Just like the title says. So what do you think?.........Good?.....Bad?
Im asking because i have a D16y8 and the vtec on it hits prity hard for a sohc, maby its because i have a very quiet exhaust set up and a short ram intake but the main reson i was thinking of geting it is because i wanted to set it a RPM that when i shift to 2nd it stays on and i whouldent have to wate like 500-600 RPM for it to enguage again. So what do you think?

there is no point for a vtec controller unless you change your cam settings. The VTEC cam lobe was designed for a certain rpm and a vtec controller can gain a little more power by changing it a few hundred rpm but it just really shifts the powerband a little. If you hit vtec at 3000rpm, it wont give you anymore power In fact it might lose power.

with a mostly stock setup it's not really worth it, like crazyxzero said, you may actually lose power. Also, alot of these controllers only change the vtec x-over point and don't augment the fueling properly. Which can adversely affect performance at best and possibly cause engine damage from lean conditions at worst.

There was a reason Honda set the VTEC engagement point on your motor. Trust them, because they know whats best. Don't get it.

unless you plan to get a cam with a different vtec point, there is no point..
vtec hits causes the cam to change it's profile and the only way you will gain from a vtec controller is if you change your cam vtec profile to something much different from the stock vtec point.
I know a few people who have cams that activate vtec around 4400rpm but the cam lobe is perfect for it so it matches quite well.

if you dnt plan on buildin that motor internally or put boost on it. its not worth it
