Just curious what everyone thinks.

For an engine swap:

Best B16 series engine or B18 series.

B18's like a C5 are definetly powerful as its coming from a Int. Type-R,
but are they worth the price? Is there a cheaper setup to give the same range?

I've heard, as far as forced-induction, B16's are good. But I'm not sure if this is true or not.

I would rather a "N/A" setup, but could be persuaded to "Forced".

I would like to rebuild my EJ to be kinda sleeper-ish. No flashy crap and an N/A setup would work better for that, but they become spendy.

What engine series of the two would be more reliable as N/A and would it a port/polish/sleeve etc.. type rebuild be acceptable to do?

if you're gonna go NA, do the 1.8. i don't wanna quote the overused saying,i'm sure you know if. but, the extra displacement is worth it. and you don't have to go with an itr to get good power, a gsr that is worked well is just as good in my book. its all up to personal preference i guess. i like NA because of reliability, turbos can also be reliable also, if you build and tune right. like i said, its all in preference.

poor mans type r...b18c1 block with a b16 head "pr3" put the type r internals into the head to transform it into a pr3-4 and call it a night for n/a builds ...revs high like a mother.start off with a b16a2 and work ur way up till your use to the new weight balance and feel of the motor.

i'm telling you guys, the p72 head is the way to go. it WILL outflow a pr3 head(with a good PnP and valve job), plus you get that compression bump. and if you are going to build the head, why short yourself by getting stock type r internals. go with something better, at least for the valves springs and retainers. type r cams are pretty decent though.
