i plan on buying a coupe, i think im going for a 99, a swap i was looking at doing was a b18c a type-r motor swap, well my friend said to go for a better swap like a b20? or a crv motor? he says the crv motor comes out of honda's suv like car things and said its a torquey motor, and a guy he knows has a swap in his hatch and it is a awesome all-motor rig. what would be some tranny options for the motors? def want a 5 speed, but 6 speeds will work. also what are the available aftermarket parts for the motors, i want to build a sleeper motor, build up as much all motor as possible and put a supercharger on it. or if a turbo would work better with the motor then that would work too but i would like the noise of no blow off vavle when i take off. thanks guys. -kris

i say don't go for the b20, the b18r is way better IMO. some people do like the b20 vtec combo, but it can be unreliable if not built correctly. if you get the b18r, you get a very good platform to start with and that stock honda reliability. i would worry about that first, before you are looking into turbo setups.

the b20 is a crv motor!
i would get a cheap ass b16 swap, then get get a dart b20 block and build from there  the old one from endyne has recent been working on a build up to make 200 lbs/ft from one of these motor (hint big intake cam little ass ex cam )

i can easily make the sound of a bov unheard...just use a bosch style bypass valve and recirculate it back into the intake side of the turbo inlet custom work but it reap its rewards...you also dont loose boost due to venting to the atmoshpere as many people do easy easy easy go boost b18b...not that im a vtec hater...just dont want the hassle of boosting when the valve train system kicks in
