Dina
07-24-2006, 08:38 PM
Any updates on this?

S1M
07-24-2006, 09:51 PM
so after all this time, no updates... until now!

here's a little of what's been going on with this car lately:

block's machined and back from ERL! for those of you who don't know, it's a k20a3 block from a Honda Civic Si (EP3)

main studs are in, ready to accept K20a2 crank that's been prepped by ERL!

girdle / lower case

crank's comfortable

girdle's all goo'd up!

crank's sandwiched...

next to go in...

one down, 3 to go! this is why i don't like v8's... i'd have 7 more to go.

gettin' there...

mt. toda

all assembled...

we all know honda parts are usually interchangeable... this is one of the solutions for high spinning K series' oil starvation issue.

S2K oil pump!

so, the shortblock's assembled... back to hibernation. the "phunahus is always waiting for parts plague" has struck. i'm now waiting for valve guides from japan and engine mounts to pop out of a metal factory.

JdmRevelations

sorry i haven't been around to update this build - because there's really no updates...

i'm out of discs on my stupid camera. i'll get some more pics up shortly.

JUN valve guides came in. there are only 3 sets for k20's that i know of in the USA and i own all 3! muahahahahaha!

yeah i know but just wanted to give ya a hard time.. eheh

buklae620
10-24-2006, 10:12 PM
some have actually had luck with the obx lsd, but lot of ppl have problems with em, i guess if your on a budget build obx is the way to go but alot of ppl cant afford the quaife or kaaz since they are so damn expensive.....but u have to pay to play :D

2coupes
10-24-2006, 10:27 PM
brand new panels huh? haha I should call you Ricky, it's coming along well

S1M
10-24-2006, 11:45 PM
yeah... i guess ricky's the first to post on a buildup replacing panels... but as our cars get older and cleaner shells are harder to find... replacing panels is the only way. we're replacing panels on an eg hatch too.

What are the plans for tractions control (lsd, bars, etc)?

im hopin a quaife or kaaz lsd and a bad ass suspension setup......if their planning on big #'s there's going to be some major traction problems. alot of the guys i knnow who run big #'s still have major traction problems even with the best suspension setup.....

S1M
10-25-2006, 03:04 PM
LSD & clutch will be ATS units or CUSCO - probably ATS.

traction bars will be chromoly provided by AVID racing.

suspension will be setup by who else - PIC performance.

i'm a firm believer of only selling products that i would personally run on my vehicle. if i wouldn't run it, i won't sell it.

tiny update:

subframe and lower control arms sandblasted - rust free!

SiR front end conversion, SiR rear bumper! however, i ordered everything for CRX SiR but some of the parts are not for CRX but for Civic. who can identify it?

S1M
11-06-2006, 03:33 PM

Mr.MAN
03-08-2007, 11:03 PM
this build is insane man good work! love the header, and what wheels are those, they look like 5 spoke version of the 4 spoke ssrs

S1M
03-09-2007, 12:01 AM
tulsa is good! the wheel is indeed the ssr type V.

i don't really wanna count how much i've invested into this car - but if i were to guess, around $1 - $40k :) vague enough?

i'm hoping to keep this car forever but like my last car, if the offer's too good to pass, i'd sell.

04-30-2007, 06:05 PM
alright, some of you may know that this is the guinea pig for the prototype mounts from AVID and are finally satisfactory after numerous revisions.

notice the holes on the subframe were off and we felt there was no need to have AVID redrill them since we have a TIG welder at our disposal.

this is the OG of AVID EF chassis K series mount kits:

a little update...

some more plumbing done... this shit's so time consuming to get it right!

battery box:

that's it for now. next is more plumbing and finishing the fuel lines, mock up the engine again, then it's wiring. getting closer!

why did you choose hard lines over stainless steel braided? what did you do for the brake lines? or are going to do?

S1M
03-18-2008, 11:12 PM
i chose the hardlines over ss braided mainly for the bling factor. i figured ANYONE could easily plumb their fuel system with ss braided lines in under 1 day and i wanted whoever to see what we've done to either appreciate the hard work we've put into it, or try it themselves to find out how difficult it is - then appreciate the work and time we've put into it. tubing a car is a lot harder than it looks. when you're just a little too short, you've got to make a whole new one. no hiding mistakes with hardlines. anyway, sorry for the rant... got a little carried away there.

if you look closely at some of the pics, you'd have already seen some of the brakelines. they've been done. i must've neglected to take pics and show them.

foff158
03-19-2008, 03:47 PM
ok..but there is no performance factor...i hear that with full stainless brake lines that the pedal feels mushy? true?

S1M
03-19-2008, 05:10 PM
mushy pedals come from air in the lines and rubber line expansion. with stainless steel braided brake lines, you eliminate the rubber line expansion, all you'll need after the stainless steel braided brake lines is a good bleed and you shouldn't have mushy pedals anymore.

updates are here!

we had some problems with prototype engine mounts, so we finally gave up on waiting and decided to make our own...

first, we decided on location and angle:

then, we welded it up!

of course, we can't leave it ugly so it gets powdercoated.

battery box mounted:

so we got better oil pan clearance and the hood had to get cut for itb's anyway, so here's our answer to the custom hood:

suspension time: PIC select coilovers 10k/14k, f7 with spherical bush, Suja 1 Motoring hard rubber bushings all around, endless rotors and pads, arp extended

exhaust is on its way:

and here's the musical wheels, we (phunhaus) have these 4x114 wheels lying around and decided to throw them on for pictures:

Decided to ditch the painted valve cover for a polished one... what do you think? Polished or painted?

...for now, just itching to drive it. Pretty much broke the motor in, just waiting for our dyno to arrive to tune it and the snow to melt to rip this year! can't wait!
