Ok I am looking for a dvd back up program that will back up all my dvd's I have dvd-cloner2 but its not able to back them all up just some and I dont know why. So does anyone know of a good dvd back up program?

Try searching for dvd decriptor and dvd shrink a great backup combo. I have been able to use on all but one of my movies. I know one of them was shut down but I have copies of them if you can't find them I can get them too you.

ill see tommorow what program my dad uses...he has mad backups of everything ..tapes dvd vcd laser disk to dvd ..not a pirater but just makes copies to keep around

dvd shrink edit dvds which mean you can take files out such as menues, extras and unwanted junk so you can save space and still retain the important stuff the main movie. It also does a full back up for your dvd if you prefer that instead. Dvd deycrpter extract data from dvd and get rid of the write protection so you can save it in your hd and still able to watch it using regular video software. These are the basic of these 2 softwares. If you need help let me know.

what kind of dvd movie are you backing up and what kind of error are you getting?


Open up Dvd Decrypter go to mode and make sure its on ifo. load your dvd movie and on the right there should be a menu input. In the menu input you should see chapters. Right next to it is streaming processing if you dont want some of the subtitle you can check them of otherwise just hit decrypter icon (dvd to hd) by the way pick a destination.

Now in dvd shrink: If you click on full dis and on your right you can see "ac3 5.1-ch english and all the subpicture then you can skip the dvd decrypter just use dvd shrink. Again choose what you want to keep by leaving the check in the box and then hit backup and wait.

sometimes there is an error in dvd shrink which mean you might have to decrypt it first using dvd decrypter.

I got them both now but for some reason I cant back up a sony movie I have I keep getting some kind of error dude.. all the newer sony movies have a virus program inbedded into the disc, when you try to copy it it will fail & could possible make your program not work. they have already been sued over not having a warning label on their discs.. it made cnn even. i'm not kidding, it happened to me too. its part of their "anti-piracy" crap.

Type 1: Sony's DVD protection system ARccOS™ - Bad Sectors



DVD Shrink can't backup movies with Sony's DVD protection system ARccOS™. Affected movies are mostly region 1 and 2 DVDs. This protection system uses deliberately created bad sectors that will cause a reading error when DVD Shrink tries to read the DVD.

Type 2: Corrupt video data in unreferenced material

There is a video in VIDEO_TS.VOB where a kid jumps in the air, played over and over. DVD Shrink can't handle this video. It's a hidden video clip which are usually put in the subpictures.

Other types of new copy protection systems:

Settec Alpha-DVD and Puppetlock are other new copy protection systems.

How do you know that there is this new protection systems on the DVD?

If you insert the DVD in DVD Decrypter and check out the log file - you should see this:

This is just a guess from the program. To know if the guess was right - you should also find rows like these:

Six problems that you can encounter if you try to only use DVD Shrink:

1. Error Code "Exception occured":

2. Error Code "cyclic redundancy check":

3. Your computer will freeze or give you a Windows system error or DVD Shrink will just disappear.

4. Error Code "Invalid DVD navigation structure":

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Invalid DVD navigation structure

5. Error Code "Failed to open file VTS_01_5.VOB":

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Failed to open file X:\Path_to\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_5.VOB
The system cannot find the file specified.

The error code will always end with VTS_0X_X.VOB
This file does not exist on your original DVD.

6. Error Code "Out of memory":

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Out of memory
Not enough storage is available to process this command.
