...who has no idea what they're talking about or what something means, so they just make assumptions?
I went to a shop that I visit regularly because I've become good friends with their head mechanic/manager and have him do a lot of work on my car. I walk in and they've hired a new chick to do the front, take calls, etc.
So I ask her if she can get me a throttle-body gasket. She gives me this skeptical look at first like "Why the hell are you ordering that through us?" So then she starts to be a smartass and says "Okay, details. I can't read your mind."
Me:95 Integra GSR.
-Are you like souping up the car or what? You just want an OEM gasket?
Me: Uh, it's a gasket. It doesn't matter.
-Okay let me call O'Reilly's. :calls them: Yes I need a TB gasket for a 95 Integra.

-Is your car a DOHC or VTEC?
Me: ....lol
-What?
Me: Nevermind I thought you were kidding. Its, uh, VTEC I guess.
-Okay. :talks to phone: It's VTEC....Yeah....One of them vortec engines.
At this point I busted out laughing and had to turn around and get control of myself. I turn around and she's staring at me, clearly pissed off.
Me: Sorry lol
-What's so funny kid?
Me: You called it Vortec lol
-No you said it wrong. It's Vortec, not VTEC
Me: Uh, no. It's VTEC. Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. Honda didn't have Vortec engines.
-Sir are you being a smartass.
Me: LOL You know what, I'm done. I'll go somewhere else.
I went into the bay and talked to the mechanic friend and he told me he'd order one for me and call me when it's in.
Any of y'all ever had experiences with people like this?
