he had in the past, but decided that he couldn't stand having parts that didn't fit properly, looked goofy, didn't work correctly, or just plain were owned by 95% of the Honda community.
now he's just trying to do his part for the JDM community and getting people to realize that the REAL stuff fits, looks, and is built with better quality than all of these knock-off parts on the market.
i had a fakey "moogen" lip at first too, but i ditched it for my authentic SiR lip which fit and looked 146848984 times better than my streetstyler ABS lip. as the elite group of coupes that we want to represent for the Coupe Council, we ought to be repping the finest parts there are. i'm not saying you need to have the most expensive seats/rims/engine etc., but at least put real stuff into your ride. saving for an extra month or not eating out for a couple weeks shows you have the determination to build a ride worthy of being called JDM. APC, eBay, X3 Racing, etc. are not manufacturers from the Japanese Domestic Market.
now i'm not hating on people who have non-JDM parts or anything, just mainly stating my view about people building cars and claiming JDM-ness or whatever. basically just a rant. i don't like people saying "Oh yeah I have a Mugen lip on my 98 civic" when they are really talking about a StreetStyler lip based on the real Mugen lip for a 92-95 civic. i've really only seen an authentic 96-98 Mugen lip on hatches from overseas in Europe and Asia. that is just one example of misled people and the lack of knowledge and information that truly exists in this industry where tuners are flooded with companies trying to make it big riding the JDM-wave.
in the words of another coupe owner:
PornoPanda said "If you want to go cheap, you shouldn't be modifying cars."
This thread will probably set off some tension among the members here, but I think its a good point to discuss and hear some opinions on.
oh yeah, :jdm:

all this is gonna do is start drama, who cares what other people do with thier own car.. if everyone did it real nobody would stand out. People care way too much what others do with their own money. As long as they arent saying hey look at my real shit when it's obviousy fake.. honestly that's the only time I would begin to give a shit what anyone else does, and even at that it would only be to laugh and move on.
all this is gonna do is start drama.
it may and it may not. personally, i think everybody should be able to be mature enough about this to post their opinions and not get out of hand, but i'll be watching this thread carefully in case it does. ;)
what do other members have to say about this topic?

I say people care to much about what others do, do your car the way you like it and let others do the same. Anyone with a brain will know who is faking the funk and if they are ok with it on their own car than props to them just the same for modding it to their own personal liking.

i have a mugen style lip:jdm:
but mike pretty much covered what i have to say on the subject
I have to agree here with Princess Amber, Her and I know from JDMC how this will go! Its gonna turn into a "rota" thread.
I have always been one to say mod your car how you want it, I am more into the jdm scene but I will give props for the work done to a car and the money spent even if I dont like it.
If I want to buy a part for my car with my money then I will buy the part that I want for my car and no one can say anything to me about it because I worked and did what I had to for that part. That being said I have always been one to get the right parts first as opposed to the cheaper less expensive part, I believe in the fact that the better "genuine" parts will out last and out preform the knock off parts.
Again in my experience why buy a cheaper part that will fail in the long run. Take this for example:
I am a Honda Certified Tech and I work on cars on my off time, I have alot of customers that I do work for that want aftermarket performance parts that the dealer wont install. So I have this guy who told me "I want to lower my car I found some coilovers on e bay for 40 bucks but the shipping was 65 dollars. I told him don't get those if you want a good coilover save up some money and get some omni power coilover they are a pretty decent and they are a true threaded strut coilover.
Long story short he bought 2 sets of those ebay coilovers and went through 2 sets of oem struts for the car within the last 2 years now he has bought some tein s tech springs and some tokico blue's and he has to pay me all over again for me to do the work for the 3rd time.

this is a huge debate, and it probably always will be. as all of you know, i have some replica parts on my car. BUT, there are only certain things that i will buy in replica form. to me, there are just some parts that some manufacturers overprice, why pay high dollar when i know its bullshit. just to say oh i have REAL SPOON MIRRORS, but everytime i say it, i know i payed through the nose and shouldn't have. i don't get mad when people say things about replica parts, i mod my car for MOSTLY my enjoyment, and a little for others too see. and so far, i have been getting a good reaction. out of myself and others, so i'm fine with them.

ok.. to clear everything up... i am not trying to start something... i understand where everyone is coming from... like i said before... if you want to rock your fake stuff then DO SO.... if you want to get authentic stuff.. do so... ITS YOUR MONEY NOT MINE OR ANYONE ELSES.... all i was stating was that... dont be a hypocrite and bash on someone that has fake stuff if you too had it.. i myself dont claim being JDM.. since my stuff right now is DIY... but do be on the lookout for a few goodies i have planed to purchase for Roxy..... this is said and done..
