I have been seeing several K20A3 complete swaps go for cheap recently. I was wondering how would the performance be if I swapped one of those into my EJ8. Would I just be able to swap the K20A2 head later on down the road and is it worth it?

umm i'm not for sure??? any k series head will fit.... i would get a k24a4 accord motor though off of www.k20a.org they go for 1000 bux shipped but that is not a complete swap or trans.then put a k24a2 or k20a2 head for it, then u would be pushing alot of power....

^^not soo much with the A3 head. My buddy Josh had a built A3 motor (Complete) and he supercharged it with a JRSC, and the most he ever made out of it was 220whp. And that was WITH K-pro which by itself is close to a G. Now if you save a lil more, get either an A2 complete, or K24 (Complete) both of those can yield sooo much more power. You can get easy 250 whp from a built K24. Especially if you decide to get an A2 head. the A2 responds the best to mods. you can literally make more all motor power off a built K20, than a built S2k with ITbs all motor. The K series engine is the new technology. Hate to say it, but B series motors are going to officially fall off the map as K's become more and more available. If you dont have a boosted b against a built K, you dont stand a chance! Why do you think I went K?

on both the k20a3 and k24a4, you cant just swap the head. Because their is clearance problems. The only way to do it is if you replaced all of the internals(which is a waste of money and time, just for a head). You can swap a k20a, k20a2, or k20z head on the k24a1 and k24a2 with no clearance problems with stock internals. The k24a1 comes out of the crv and makes 160hp, and the k24a2 is form the tsx and makes around 200hp. If you are on a budget your best bet is a k24a1 with a k20a2(or k20z out of the new si) head, and a k20a2 or k20z tranny. I also belive that the new si parts (head and tranny) are cheaper from the dealership then the a2 stuff because it is produced here. I believe a complete head from the new si goes for a little over 1k brand new. Also previosly to the new si, the only way to get a factory lsd was to get the k20a which for a complete swap would cost around 5-6k. Now since the new si's arrival you can buy the new si 6spd lsd tranny, which also has longer gearing then the k20a and a bigger final drive, and it costs significantly less then the k20a's tranny. I have a k20a in my car and at 60mph on the expressway with 15in wheels, im at like 3-3300 rpm, which is insane. But i like the short gearing, seeing that i am planning on doing much more auto x and roadraceing then drag racing next summer. Goodluck, and do it right the first time:TU:

I guess the k20a3 is not worth it so maybe later down the line if I still have my car I'll be looking for a k20a2 swap. Thanks for the info.
