View Full Version : My girl's coupe
Volume 8

Like the title says, this is my girl's car. it's a '99 EX. she got it in '03. it had 70k miles on it, and was bone stock. we've made a few changes since then.
mod list:
Shortie intake
4-2-1 header
2.25" exhaust w/cheap dynomax muffler.
accel plug wires
NGK iridium plugs
spoon reservoir covers
exedy clutch
skunk2 springs
KYB AGX dampers
EBC greenstuff pads
brembo rotors
skunk2 front bar
DC integra gauge cluster
AXAS combat power rev indicator
honda accessory floormats
Factory Si foglights
"typeR" grill
DIY front lip
stereo stuff:
clarion dxz535
JL e1250
JL e4300
2 JL 10w0's
JL 6x9 in the rear
JL 5.25 components in the front
this is the oldest pic I have of the car, the typeR lip, grill, and the Si foglights were the first couple mods we had done.
some more recent pics. at this point the suspension was in, it had the lip i made on it, and it still had the 15% tint.
this winter.
by far my favorite shot.
Gauges before and after.
a few engine shots
amps/subs

here's my car. it's a '93 integra RS. i bought the car from my friend who bought the car off another friend who had crashed it, long story. anyways, we straightened it out a little, and i put a new bumper cover on it so i could get it on the road. i got lucky cuz my friend had bought JDM headlights to replace the stock ones, unfortunately it had a butt-ugly fiberglass ricer hood on it.
mods:
CAI
4-2-1 header
2.25" exhaust, no cat or muffler right now.
denso iridium plugs
accel wires
mugen reservoir cover
JDM one-piece headlights
cheapo side markers
DIY sideskirts
rear wiper delete
sparco 4-pt. harness
DIY start switch/gauge panel
re-located battery to trunk
DIY rear cross brace
cheapo front tower bar
this is then.
this is where it sits now, i traded that hood for a stock one so no more rice factor. i color matched the mirrors, threw on some honda badges, and i found a used factory lip
1834CCs of honda goodness, check out my custom urine-colored valve cover.

Curious as to why you ditched the Si front lip that was on there in the beginning. Was it damaged or something?
I like the way it sits, looks like the right amount of drop. Oh yeah, can you say car wash? lol
Props on that stereo it looks like it would sound good. I'm a stereo freak also.

thanks for all the comments guys.
yup, i am responsibe for all the work and maintenance on the car,she helps though. and yeah, that intake isn't the greatest but it was free, i've been thinking about putting my cai on it but we've already had problems with water, so i'm dreaming up some kind of new intake setup, not sure what yet. and the lip wasn't an Si lip, it was a cheap ABS knockoff, we went through two of them before i decided to make the one that's on there now, it's been on there a year and no problems, takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. definitely feelin' some rotas too, she wants some black slips. she just got her taxes back so the car is getting some much needed tlc, 100k mile maintenance, new brakes, and i'm dropping the tranny to fix some bearing issues, so no rims just yet. and don't worry mel, i'm workin on a wire tuck right now, plus i'm gonna paint the valve cover when it's off.

i hated that hood since the day i got the car, the only nice thing is that it was lighter, i felt the difference, lost a few mph exiting corners.(i have a benchmark road i use for testing). but anyway, as far as future plans i wanna get some coilovers and a new brake setup, plannin' on a b20 swap, that's just the big stuff, there's a lot of small things i'm gonna do too.

i put this on today, it's getting nice out and i might have my license back this week so it may be time to wake up the beast soon.
decals look good. i think i would have mounted it a LITTLE lower on the rear bumper though. it looks like its right in the curve of the bumper. i'd have put it down on the lower section of the lip i think, but it still looks good repping the Council. :TU:

yeah, the one blurry pic is without the tripod. as for the coupe, lots of plans but the next few will probably be a CTR shift-boot, JDM sidemarkers, and spoon shift knob, i've got some integra SE alloys i might put on, and i really gotta find some rear discs.

thanks for the compliments everybody.:TU: :D here's some more pics.
we went to the junkyard looking for a window for Lionel's DA and happened upon a black EJ6 which happened to have a trunklid in good shape. So he bought me the trunklid and scored a window for his car.
quick trunk swap-
the nice thing is it's already de-badged and has holes for a factory spoiler so when i get an Si wing it can go right on.
and earlier tonight Lionel took some shots of my car.
my new engine swap, "powered by Lionel!!"

Volume 8
05-30-2006, 12:16 AM
yeah, the trunk we got from the junkyard had a wing, but it's no big deal cuz she wants an Si spoiler and since i always manage to mount things crooked somehow, it's convenient that the holes are already there. but due to recent unfortunate developments that's all up in the air.

Damn, seems like this thread only gets updated when something breaks. But here's what's up; the oil in my girl's engine magically disappeared, add that to a trip on the highway and you get the picture. Long story short the engine is trashed. I yanked the Y8 a few weeks ago and finally managed to get hold of a Y7, thanks again Chris(Foff158). Probably gonna go about doing the swap this weekend.
Sad to see it go, this engine served us well for 4 years.

Finally got around to working on swapping engines in my girl's car.
Transferred everything over and dropped it in the other day but I decided I'm gonna swap the Y8 head onto it to avoid other issues with the swap.
Anywho, here's some pics.
D16y8, my old Z6, and the "new" Y7
The Y7.
Pulled the valve cover off the y8 and then pulled the head.

Installed the clutch, thne bolted up the transmission.
Sanded the paint off the lettering on the valve cover and slapped it on.
Then I dropped the engine in.

I've been pretty busy lately but as a quick update I got the car running. It was throwing a code 54 but I fixed that today. I'm glad I'm finally done with it and Courtney couldn't be happier.
In and done...kinda, still hadn't put the intake and tower bar on.
Used the parts I didn't need from my DC cluster to fix hers. Needs more adjusting and I gotta trim some of the plastic off the bottom.
More pics soon, we're gonna go do a shoot with both cars.
Also expect more work to be done with hers in the next few months. I'm putting together a high-compression D16z6 to swap in with a hybrid transmission, some more wire tucking, plus a few other goodies here and there.

I'm one of the lucky ones then. Mine loves hondas and loves to work on cars with me. I picked up an eg8 with a blown engine for her. Together we removed the blown engine, tranferred the auto trans to a jdm d15b I picked up for cheap and all the other pieces needed to make it run, and then installed it ourselves. She's put over 15k on it and it still runs great. She's also helping me on my em1. Damn I love my girl :D . Go go female tuners! :honda:

Once again, there's only updates when stuff breaks. Her right rear brake was hung up so I pulled the drum off to inspect it and when I tested the brakes again the wheel cylinder blew. So that makes two broken cars, WTF?!
Jacked up, literally and figuratively.
For some reason I found this extremely funny.
No friction material whatsoever, literally metal on metal. This is what happens when you get lazy and don't change brakes for a couple years.
So fresh brakes all around are on the menu. It needs a new suspension, and I'm gonna build a fresh engine for her with a few tricks thrown in. We need a new exhaust too because the wimpy DX piping is choking the engine.
Old crap:
So that's what's up. Time to give her neglected coupe some love. Hopefully there will be some updates that don't include broken parts in the near future.

Ok, so I got her car going again. So since I've been driving hers and not mine right now I've been messing with it here and there. I also did a mini-shoot.
The "touring car style" sheet metal lip was pretty banged up so I grabbed some fresh metal from a siding job I did awhile ago. Haters can hate, but thess lips take some serious abuse, and she likes it so that's what counts.
Before.

Should be around 12:1. They're going in a Z6 block with a refreshed head w/ a valve job. I'm gonna have the rods shotpeened and polished, and I will most likely polish the piston faces as well. I don't really have any specific output goals but I figure it should wake the car up a bit, it's really slow right now.
