well guys, i have fallen out of the N/A route & i decided to boost. what do you think? supercharger or turbo? if i s/c i plan on going vortech, & for turbo, i have to get a custom setup because i have a b16a in a 93 chassis. but in the turbo route i definately want to use a tial wastegate & run stock internals for a while.. sooo help me out.. what's your opinion?

it can be done... but you have to watch your boost levels.. dont try to go boost happy and BOOM! there goes your motor..

stockblock boosting is possible! It really all depends on how well the tune is.

good luck with everything. One of the best custom kits around my area and on h-t is www.spoolinperformance.com . Phil is the man!!

thanks for the link. i've heard good things about them. i don't plan on boosting past 7psi on stock internals. but it should be enough to get me past 200whp & into high 13s.(i'm currently dynoed 172whp(yes i am tuned) & running a 14.6 at the 1/4. sooo, i taking that you guys say turbo instead of s/c ?

im runn'n stock internals on my motor and im at 6psi. i say turbo! the fastest civic i've ever seen was a buddy's b16 turbo in a 94 coupe.(his car n motor below) BOOST IS BETTER!!!

proper fuel managment and spark engagment is key to a non detonation boost life style. anyone who says u cant turbo a high compression motor has never done it before and just going off on what others say. 3 months ago i just did a b18c1 with a turbonetics 55 series turbo...9 psi from a vafcII tune.still today he drives it 9 psi daily driven high compression and hasnt blown yet...maybe hes lucky he didnt have a lemon motor. seriously alot of people know of turbos but not the fundamentals of how everything works together to generate boost while staying cooled lubricated and flowing. i say do it...turbo supercharger doesnt matter...its both good...just that are u planning to auto x drag or just want that swoooshing sound..i myself like both becuase ive been working on both for quite a while now

how much u willing to spend on your setup?i might have a customer who wants to get rid of his boost..because its not practical for him to have a turbo car daily driven to go back and forth into mexico all day.

how much do u think he wants to ask?

I'm gonna setup my own kit, from other parts i already have. thanks for the offer though. i will probably take it to the drag just for test & tune. it's mainly just because i like to build & see how far something will go. my cars are never done, haha. theres always something else.

Word, here's a GS-R that my friend J.Miller tuned with some Innovate stuff.

Stock head and bottom, they threw this on a hatch and hit 11s on crap suspension. I don't know crap about EFI hacking, but you could probably hit him up @ his shop's website with questions.

boost rules!!! do it:) im running stock everything and make'n some good power! goin to the track Wed. so ill letcha kno wat a stock mini-me turbo run's... i gotta buddy with stock internals(block), all he has is a skunk2 IM and Zex cam on the same size turbo and pushin 213hp (SOHC) off the dyno:rockon:

there is somthing that makes u feel good for keepin up with a bigger motor at the tracks...but the downside is that your always gonna want more power after tasting boost on a sohc...soon a bigger platform is gonna be needed to keep up with the bigger boys at the track...im in that phase right now

Remember

RELIABILITY all relies on the TUNING.

expect to pay around 1000-2400 for a custom kit depending on the type of kit.
