for some reason on my d16y8 i have a very weak vtec engagement. it was fine before i had all my other issues. if some of you didnt see my other threads i got some water in the intake and had ALL KINDS OF ISSUES. but i got most of it fixed. i thought it was blown but it was saved and broght back to life for a couple hundred. anyways is there any ideas on how to regain my vtec so it kicks harder? i dunno if it would have to be tuned or what. i was thinking of changing to OBDI instead of my stock OBDII since the OBDI is easier to tune but not sure. so what do you all got to say? :honda:

it seems to be engaging. pretty posotive it is but it doesnt kick hard at all. it is lagging power. as far as saving it. my buddys is a honda technician and basically we took the bitc* apart. everything and drained the block. there wasnt A LOT of water but enough to make it run like shit until it just didnt run at all! tore it down drained it replaced the injectors they were pretty bad in the first place and while i was in the process of the head being off and shit we put all new internals. i am thinking of running turbo. i have access to a kit for cheap from a local. either that or he has a motor for me. not sure yet. but what bout my vtec??? i dont see why water would affect it at all?

The cam changeover on SOHC's usually isnt that noticeable unless you have a loud intake. I guess it's possible you could have damaged something but I don't think it would work at all if that was the case and you would most likely be throwing codes.

run a compression test n your motor to check if the cylinders are good.

the code should be stored regardless unless the ecu has been reset.

just checked the oil. its full. gas is full. supposedly m O2 sensor was making my check engine light come on. i bought it new a few weeks ago i guess it was bad so they gave me a new one and that fixed my light. but the vtec is still sluggish. i am thinking mayb just replacing the solenoid thats all i can think of.
