*more updated pics on pages 4 (jdm recaros),5 (j's intake), 9 (winter-mode, new speakers, Rays lugnuts), 12 (f'd up MSD Dizzy), 14 (Koyo Rad, FAL fan, Samco Hoses)*

Hey guys and gals,

I don't have a pic of the car when i first bought it cuz it was BONE-stock..lol!
first mod was APC clear corner (ricer stage?) and didn't lower it till about 2 years later.

Pretty much went nuts in the last 1 and half (swapped out 2 motors in 1 year, and also 3 different sets of rims, 3 types of suspension too!)

Original D16Z6:

Mods weren't much:
-DC header
-Generic Short Ram (had a cold air)
-Stock exhaust!

How it looked shortly after:

-sat on JDM Sard Springs + KYB's
-Motegi MR8 (16x7")
-sold the CF hood a year ago

Months later:

-JDM B18C went in

More months later:

-Mugen 4-1 header
-JDM ITR Valvecover
-Optima yellowtop
-Greddy Catch Can + SS lines
-Buddy Club grounding kit

Suspension changed from Sard Springs/KYB's to H&R Coilovers to Tein HA's:

-Tein HA (ITR Spec)
-Skunk2 21mm sway
-Skunk2 Lower tiebar
-Skunk2 Front strut bar
-Skunk2 Front camber kit
-KVR drilled rotors and pads
-DC2 rear disc conversion

Wheel Whoring Begins (within a 8month period):
Motegi MR8:

GSR's:

Work Emotion:

Volk TE37's:

JDM Ownz me:

(installed USDM ITR Seats recently)

Currently, i swapped out the B18C and put in another B18C. A '98 Spec JDM ITR with LSD tranny (4.7FD).

Mods thus far:
-Spoon 4-2-1 header (2.5" collector)
-Apex'i WS header back system
-Toda cam gears
-Toda 8lbs flywheel
-RPS Street clutch
-J's Racing CF Intake
-Koyo Full size rad (ITR)
-FAL slim fan
-Samco Hoses

Future plans (more of this):

The civic dong goes over the resonator hole, where air comes up via the jay's intake duct in the girll, the dc2 teg has abs and the unit is in the same location.

the emotions i had were 16x7 with a 42offset. they would actually rub a bit if i corned too hard at auto-x...

yah, i like the look of the emotions, but they look soooooooo much better with a 0 offset car! and they're kinda heavy too...compared to the 15x6.5" volks i have now.

lol, they're not too heavy for a cast rim tho....you're looking at approx. 16lbs for a 16" which is pretty good. but it's tough to beat the 8.8lbs of the Volks...it's like you have one less person in your car! :japanflag:

paint job next year and install the wings west RS sides i have sitting at the shop!

motorwise, probably Toda B's and Hondata S200. In the long run, there's a chance for ITB's or a lowboost turbo set up...haven't really decided, but i think it's better for the ITR motor to remain an NA machine. :japanflag:

i would stick w/ NA. ITR motor was meant for NA!! No reason to ruin honda's true intention for that motor. Other motors that were meant to save gas...thats another story..

thats a clean ass swap!

yeah a type r is meant for n/a compression is too high to run a turbo
u'd have to rebuild the whole motor with low comp turbo pistons if u wanted to run turbo.

unless u can find a blown up type r motor and rebuuild that for turbo there is a guy in my town who is running a turbo type r, it was totally rebuilt for turbo of course, he picked it up foR cheap sinec it was blown

but yah, it's possible to run a low boost turbo on a stock R-motor (i'm talking 5-6lbs max!) but it does defeat the purpose of the motor IMO. it just pisses me off how much a nice N/A build will cost... :ohsnap:

not yet..but i'm curious to find out as well...i've been told i could possibly hit mid 13's with a good driver...so i'll probably run 25's or something. :japanflag:

believe me, i'd love to but i can't justify having 2 vehicles (having a sportbike is bad enough!). i'd rather buy a house if i was to have 2 vehicles even though EG's are relatively cheap to buy. ;)

i thought about doing that if i ever bought a hatch. swap all the parts around and use the EJ1 as a daily and the hatch as a track machine...

i think they'll be better cuz if you get a CX hatchback (EG), then it will weigh a LOT less than my EJ1 at the moment. even if i was to gut out the car, it might get closer to the weight of a hatchback, but i kinda like having an interior to my car!

i also believe the wheelbase is shorter in the hatch so that could be better for handling in terms of auto-x.

not true at all, Coupes kick ass, it all depends on what mods you have and what class they put you in and what type of racing you do...

iv gotten 1st in auto-x against a S2000, boosted DC2, B20vtec EG and 2 others that dropped out half way thru the event

but would you have done better if u had a hatch with same mods? and u driving?

you're rite about the mods and stuff but wouldn't you agree with me that in the examples of you getting 1st compared to those other cars is because of driver and not necessarily the car? :)

i've also gotten faster times than others in hatches and other 'nicer' cars, but i attribute that to me having more experience than them...

it's hard to argue with the fact that a stripped hatch will always be lighter than a stripped coupe with the exact same mods (ie: i transfer all my stuff over to a hatch)

here are some of the pics of the MSD Distributor i bought (and have returned after nothing but problems...)

nice looking unit though:

drive around for a week fine, then i heard the MSD Blender going nuts:

nothing but a TON of this came out when i removed the cap:

the 2 screws holding down the rotor weren't tightened from MSD when new out of the box...thing went nuts inside and left me stranded. :TD:

got a new cap and rotor to replace the mulched ones, but then the car would have this strange cut-off at 7500-8600rpm. not often, but enough to scare me.

i've since returned it and bought an jobber one with NGK blues instead...(for the record, Acura wanted $1000 CAD for a new dizzy...)

wow msd is quality i thot

i thought it would be decent as well since the Dizzy itself is 'Made in the USA'...

i guess it's kinda strong though cuz i was able to limp home with a cracked and busted cap:

on a similar note, 2 of my friends had their MSD products die on them this week alone...what a coincidence.

..it might just be bad luck. poor quality-control at the day it was manufactured.

i'm thinking the basic MSD stuff is fine (plugs, cap rotor perhaps)...but other things like the ignition boxes and this dizzy seem to suck. granted the dizzy is a new product of theirs for the Honda, it still doesn't mean it should be poorly assembled IMO.

search MSD on hondatech..not always great things to say about their stuff...

yah man, $1000bux! the parts guy at Acura was laughing when he told me the price cuz he knew it was rediculous as well! he then said if i 'wanted the bottom bits and guts, it'll still be $580bux...'

that's a lot of money for dizzy bits...

as much as i wanted the blue samco's, the blacks look more stealth under the hood and matches better.

the mugen doesn't fit cuz the Koyo requires a different type of cap (the one with a fat rubber ring). it fit my OEM one nicely, but it won't fit the Koyo...

and yah, they're made in Indonesia. :jdm:

yah it's a really nice rad, runs the same as stock rite now (warms up the same) so i'm happy. i was afraid it was going to be TOO cold, but it's all good. wasn't easy putting in though!!!!

rad stays are smacking my hood rite now so i ordered a pair of Spoon rad stays since they're 1.5mm thick.
