remember to prep prep and can i say it anymore prep the motor for install..check everything from belts water pump alt..missing vacuums clean off debri thoroughly and carefully..make sure everything is torqued down to specs and there is no stripped bolt on the block that you will have to deal with in the future.if your gonna do something...you gotta do it right.i even go to the extent of even checking my oil pump on the motors that i recieve for me or ne one i get it for. also clean down your bay when everything is out..you will thank yourself and it will please the eyes of other tuners for a clean install. good luck on the install and keep us updated. and remember its cool to take pics to go with the story

::::EDIT:::: removed pics for bandwith
update, end of day #2 have the original motor pulled, swapped the transmissions over. ( took an hour and a half to break the 5spd loose from the original engine block ) dropped my super heavy 1 million lbs. flywheel on the tip of my left ring finger when i pulled it off the old block. a few bolts here and there have to go back onto the trans. main ones are all in though.

next step is to take off oil pan and replace the gasket. then basically reassembly. i shall return to working on it tmrw after i get off of work.

don'tgive up man, try some jb weld, just layer it on. the same thing happened to me before, i bought a used tranny and didn't find out it was cracked until i had it all the way in the car and it started leaking. jb weld worked for me, i'd try that before you give up hope.

take it to be welded.. a good welder should be able to weld it

yeah, a skilled welder will fix it up no problem

the way i see it, its not worth fixing anymore, since this isnt the motor i wanna put into my car....unless it was rebuilt w/ a turbo. i have a b18a1 sitting in my garage, and was saving to upgrade to mild internals, and having my engine die pretty much screwed my financial plans...wasting money on parts for the wrong motor, taking off work, so not making $, and also paying for gas for my brothers tahoe when i have to drive 50 miles round trip to and from work

honestly i would just weld it and keep your original goal... its gonna be a fix so you can still get your ls built... so IMO GET ER DUN.... and weld

Ya I feel you, about the cracked tranny, I went threw the same thing when I replaced my 95 coupe's D15 with a cammed-out D16Y8, the tranny was cracked too, but as for any back yard do-it-yourselfer, I introduced it to Mr.J.B.!! He Got Er DUN. for now anyway...
