Exactly, if anything you can always loosen the service bolt on top of the fuel filter to be real sure. But taking the fuel cap off should do it.

well, i've read that you're supposed to start the car, unplug the relay and let the car run till it dies..

I'm with Suja, keep it simple.
yup Honda only needs to take the fuel cap off I do it at least 3 times a week

pretty simple IMO... just a lil bit of patience with the rubber hose that feeds the pump...

to remove or not to remove, that is the question

ok, i got my answer elsewhere .. back to work
yes undo them and the pump should come out be careful as the fuel level sender is in there if you bend it, it will not read right

Fuel pressure regulator may be faulty, check your fuel pressure. Also check for leaky injectors. I'll see if I can get you a copy of the Helms troubleshooting chart for that after work today. I just have to figure out how to convert PDF to JPG.

Vid doesn't play on my work PC. I'll have to check it out when I get home, maybe I can help shed some light on the problem.

you need to check your fuel pressure and go from there. could be a faulty FPR like lionel said. have you changed your fuel filter lately?

not in a couple years

i'd say change that , its the cheapest piece. get a gauge and check your fuel pressure too. it should be right around 34 psi

fuel filter wouldnt throw a CEL though, would it??

Hopefully those charts I sent you help. But yeah, definitely change the fuel filter if it's been that long. That may solve your problem and it would definitely be the cheapest solution.

i thought stock fuel pressure was around 36?

fuel filter wouldnt throw a CEL though, would it??
no, but it could cause your system to not have the correct pressure. that could cause your ecu to recognize a problem with it. and yes garrett the stock fuel pressure is 34.

well, changed the fuel filter.. seem to run good at first, but then it started doing it again.. it idles fine after i drive it hard, when i drive normal it spudders at idle acting like its gonna die.. then it shuts off

Check your fuel pressure, if it's not right, try swapping in a different fuel pressure regulator.

kinda sounds to me like you have an injector problem or possibly an ignition problem. but, most likely and injector, since you threw the fuel system malfunction CEL.

yes you have to take both off, the main bolt might be pretty tight but it will loosen. after you do that it will pull out. make sure the little mesh bag is still atached to the old pump.make sure you have one of those bags on the new one, but don't put a walbro pump on unless you got bigger injectors to back it up or your car will have too much fuel pressure an it will run funny. if its stock pump you will be alright. after you got the new pump in start the car and make sure you don't have any leaks from the main hose or the little one w the hose clamp before you put the cover back on.
