Really random thread but I was talking to my friend about nitpick details about cars and I thought it would interesting to know what you guys know about the cars.

here are some of mine:

93 Civic EX coupes have tinted sunroofs, 94-95 don't.
93 Civic EX have "splash" pattern material on interior.
93 Civic Coupe passenger seat does not slide forward when trying to access the back.
93 Civic D16Z6 valve cover has no VTEC logo on it just a BIG H.

just to get us started :)

Edwin, I used to have a 93 Ex Coupe with door tweerts. Maybe they were swapped by a previous owner?

92-93 coupes(civics) all have the same style front bumper as the SiR(with places for foglights)
all of the 92-95 sedans have a different front bumper.(& some 94-95 coupes) the 92-95 coupes/hatches, have different size front fenders, corner lights & hoods. than the sedans. the sedans are shorter.
the 92 - 95 chassis has barely any difference from the DC(94-01 teg)chassis. but the 96-00(EJ/EK) have smaller struts & shocks. & some things will not change over from one car to another.

ive acutally seen 93 ex with drum brakes.
I believe the ferio spoiler fits the coupe trunk too with monir or no adjustment
some dx models come with ex spoilers
my model had plugs where a spoiler should be and no wiring harness for a third brake light.
93 coupe didnt come with passenger side airbags..at least mine didnt

my 1993 civic coupe was made in October 1992. :)

ABS was an option for EX coupes and was never standard.

1993 civic coupes had passenger airbag as option.

Let's get so more different models.

Integra RS has no sunroof.
Integra Type R has longer sideskirts
Integra 1997 LS has colored side moldings vs the non body colored of the older models.

89 accord SEi had cupholders/rear disc brakes and a Bose System that was not standard on any other car.

Yeah it was made in oct of 92 as a 93 model there are no 92 civic coupes lol!

o0o this I just found out 93 civic coupes came in 3 trim styles DX, EX, and EX-S
EX-S added the AR stereo system and a sliding pass side seat as well as a rear wing and abs as a option.

the first ever DOHC Vtec 4 cyl. motor introduced to the States in 1992... not as a b16 or a b18C... but as a B17 that has the same head castings as a b16.. a very rare motor, the very first Vtec motor to be introduced to the states was not in a civic or integra... but in 1991 in a NSX

crazyxzer0

The first VTEC motor in the world was the B16A in the 89 integra XSi.

I could possibly be wrong on this, but in my experience, on usdm civic si, and gsr's all dohc valve covers say honda on the bottom under the H, except the 92-93 gsr which says honda motor co.

I have also heard that on black only 96 civic dx's one in every ten will beat any sohc vtec 96-00, this has also been in magazines.

crazyxzer0
04-03-2006, 02:34 PM
lol at the black DX.

1997 ITR dont have rear wipers.

JDM vtec dohc valve covers have a larger font for the VTEC unlike USDM with the larger DOHC cover.

On the 92-95 cx/vx's, the right side mirror was an option. You can do 80 in second gear in a properly runing 92-95 cx, and does anyone know why I have no side moldings and why my rear bumper trim piece is paint matched?

93 Civic EX coupes have no tweeters on doors 94-95 do
I had a '93 civic EX before and I had tweaters.... and the only other owner was my uncle and he didn't swap anything. It came as an option, cause when he got it from the factory he put in like ever option available.

on the U.S. spec Em1's (99- 2000 civic Si's) the interior seats were a different design compared to all other civic coupes before it. (On the motherland, or here no other honda had seen this particular seat design) and only the Si came with these seats. Even the rear had this uniqe design.

Didn't the Canadian SiR have the same seats? I believe certain colors of the AuDM VTi-R coupe had it as well.

(technicalities!)

Regarding the European models:
Supposedly sold as 94-96 models...
The EJ2 came with power mirrors, windows and moonroof, just like the EJ1.

Brakes
EJ1: 252mm front discs, large (not sure about size) rear drums
EJ2: 240mm front discs, small (not sure about size) rear drums

Swaybars
EJ1: 22mm front, 13mm rear
EJ2: 18mm front, no rear

The EDM EJ1 came with an engine called D16Z9, which is just about identical to the D16Z6.
I noticed some very minor differences on some parts when dismantling and assembling one (nothing worth mentioning).

Black models came with black interior. Other common colors seen imported from Germany is teal and purple (camelia red?).

the 96-98 JDM civic sedan was offered as Si but the 99-00 was changed to Vi-RS but the 96-98 Si sedan was the only civic offered with a Si Hi-wing without a brake light....

oh and the original CTR wasnt offered with a radio or custom pedals but was later released as the CTRx with a radio and these...

which were apparently offered on other model Hondas after their introduction

oh and as per Japanese Law you must have a Road flare visible within the front of the car located on the passenger side...

thats all i can think of atm...

1993 Civic Coupes did not have a EX-S Trim Level

It was only offered in 1994-95. The EX-S states that the car has ABS!!!
This meant that the car has 4 wheel disc brakes also.
The Caliper on the ABS model uses the same pad as the DC 94-01 Integras (exc. Type R)

The ALL EX NonABS Coupe rotors are IDENTICAL to 94-95ABS ones as well as ALL DC (94-01 minus Type R)
Smaller caliper and different front pads though. Came w/ Rear drums.

1991 Civic EX Master Cylinder 15/16th bolts right up to our Brake Boosters and also had the same size rotors as 93-95 EX Coupes.

sorry i was on a venture for brake rotors and pads for my car and I wanted to make sure I got the right ones.. :)

all ej1 did not have a rear sway bar :frown:

My 93 Dx coupe has no trunk light or rear speakers,

86-89 Accords, came in Coupe Hatch Sedan and Aerodeck form, They also made the Dx and Lx's Carb'd with a 2 bbl, and the Lx-i and Se-i were the only with Fuel injection, They also are 4x100 bolt pattern like our civics, let's see....

my 93 dx doesn't have Painted door handles, mirrors, or trunk garnish, but has black interior, no pass. airbag, A/c P/s and a cassette player, and leaks oil like a mofo. :)

I know more about the accords, as well as Crazy there :D 3geez.com :D

on the 92-93 dx lx cx,vx models the passenger side mirror was an option, and on the dx the ex/si spoiler was also an option
