I was wondering, if d15b VTEC camshaft will do any good to my d16z6?

I can find many opinions on internet (that it's like Zex 2nd stage camshaft and so on...), but nobody did any dyno test to proove it.
What do you think?

My goal is to do some light mods on my engine - d15b camshaft (+AEM or Skunk2 cam gear to make use of it), d16y8 IM, b16 TB, heatshield, d16y8 head gasket and light pulley. Lightened flywheel will be next. I/h/e is already done.

i dont know if it will provide any gains or even work in the car. you should check out akmee.com and look at their valvetrain setups and cams. the guy is making some pretty good power on a sohc w/ his cam. i think im going to pick one of them up eventually

There's one weak point of it - I would need new valve springs and titanium retainers. That's to much for me, I'm looking for stage one cam only. Besides - if I was to choose Akmee or Zex - I would go with Zex.

i have zex 59100 cam in my car...(stage 1).....im runnin on stock valve springs and i notice a significant diffrenece in it....gave me more top end for the most part....think i might be able to get some more power outta it with some valve springs and some tunning

upgraded springs/retainers are only really needed if it's a huge cam difference from stock, or if you're gonna raise the rev limit, too

why would you choose the zex over the akmee if you dont mind me asking? and correct me if im wrong, but you can run the akmee type s cam w/o upgrading springs or retainers. when it comes to the type r cam though you have to upgrade. i could be completely wrong though.

i agree though with this....i have been reading up on the akmee and it seems alot better than what i have.....there is a guy that is on d-series named remix (name of his car, not sure what his realy name is) that is makin like around 138 whp with just head work on a z6....

how much are u willing to spend cause the whole akmee valve train kit is like $650 i believe...correct me if im wrong......not sure how much just the cam would be by self its self....but in my experience i would get the whole thing at once cause in the end it would be worth it
