Here's a dumb question

I don't know for sure so I thought I'd ask. I totalled my CR-V the other night:eek: and now am forced to drive my civic as a DD. I was wondering is it legal to have a steering wheel without an air bag if the car came factory with one. I know its illegal to remove seat belts (duh) but I wasn't sure about the wheel since I see alot of DDs on forums woth aftermarket wheels.

Yeah it is. But everyone does it and i havent heard of anyone having a problem with it.

^ X2. You'll only have a problem when you go to get it inspected.

With OBD-2 cars, you'll have a problem passing inspection, because it will throw an SRS code. For OBD1 and 0 cars - just remove the light behind the SRS indicator, and the inspector shouldn't even notice.

well I live in the county and my car doesn't have to go through inspection. I'm mainly worried that if I get pulled over by the cops will I get in trouble. I know alot of older cars don't come with airbags.

They wouldnt know any better probaly. I wouldnt worry about it personally, just make sure your horn still works.

You never know when you'll need that airbag. I wouldn't suggest driving without it unless you have to.
