Got hit!

I got hit on my passenger side door. I was parked and another civic(red) was getting out and i don't understand how he even managed to hit me, but he did...and he kept going as you can see. This was a kid (16 or 17 yrs.) who had no license, no insurance, no title to the car, nothing, so I got all the info. I could from him and his brother who had everything (license, insurance, title). So we came to the conclusion that he would have to pay me cash or fix the door. I went to a collision repair shop and they quoted me $600 for a job well done. Told this to the kid and he said it was too much, so he would find another door at the junkyard and have that put on and painted. What are you're guys thoughts on how it's being handled?

Oh sorry forgot to mention that at the time I didn't have the title or registration under my name, so I didn't want to take a chance with the cops.

that sucks the quarter and the door need to be worked on the door replaced and the quarter pulled and massaged! I would get the police involved or at least your insurance

This is already turning out to be a sucky situation, but what wreck/accident is? But I agree, get the police or insurance involved if its not too late.
