After my LS's input shaft having a catastrophic failure.. Got a JDM GSR LSD (S80) trans from ebay for 900 shipped. Great tranny, but i bolted it to my LS powered del sol. 8lb flywheel and stg 2 clutch as well. Anyway this broad power band LS with the close ratio trans is fregin amazing. Im talking 40mph in 5th and still has enough torque to accelerate and pass.
Im sure most of you know how shifting to 5th with the ls trans at 110 mph you have almost no pull in 5th. let me tell you that the GSR's 5th eliminates this, as you can now pull all the way to redline (6,800RPM) within a reasonable straight at 125-127 mph.
1/4 mile time before: Best 15.10 consistant at 15.40's
1/4 mile time after : Best 14.76 consistant 14.80's all day
(slick to slick)
difinetly an excellent and practical swap/ replacement on your sluggish LS trans.
By the way, i posted this on several forums, as many were expecting my response.. so this may be a random post on jdmcoupecouncil! - have fun:TU:
