After my LS's input shaft having a catastrophic failure.. Got a JDM GSR LSD (S80) trans from ebay for 900 shipped. Great tranny, but i bolted it to my LS powered del sol. 8lb flywheel and stg 2 clutch as well. Anyway this broad power band LS with the close ratio trans is fregin amazing. Im talking 40mph in 5th and still has enough torque to accelerate and pass.

Im sure most of you know how shifting to 5th with the ls trans at 110 mph you have almost no pull in 5th. let me tell you that the GSR's 5th eliminates this, as you can now pull all the way to redline (6,800RPM) within a reasonable straight at 125-127 mph.

1/4 mile time before: Best 15.10 consistant at 15.40's
1/4 mile time after : Best 14.76 consistant 14.80's all day
(slick to slick)

difinetly an excellent and practical swap/ replacement on your sluggish LS trans.

By the way, i posted this on several forums, as many were expecting my response.. so this may be a random post on jdmcoupecouncil! - have fun:TU:

Thanks for sharing your results. Just goes to show how much of an effect gearing has on overall performance.

O hey, guy! My sol is an S, and was originally black as well. Ya, i never got any thrills out of my old Z6, was a great economy motor tho, obviously. Once it hit 189,000 mi. it was time for a B. Ya its good to see another Sol on here, we are coupes as well! Take it or leave it but we are 'passenger' cars also.. says the insurance ;)

what does it say on ur reg.? it says civic coupe on mine. lol

and the S came with a b7...so yea deffinately an upgrade from that to a B. but the z6 does have great potential!

i myself have an S but its basically converted to an SI besides the P/S-A/C and abs...none of it is needed!

Yeah, a lot of guys around here have converted from an LS trans to either an Si or a GSR trans and the difference is big.
