View Full Version : some pics i shot for a friend...
thought i'd put these in here since he's not a member. we'll be putting some Tein S-Tech springs on it this weekend. but now on to the pics...
comments/suggestions on the photos welcome. i'd love to pick up a better camera and get more involved in photography. :TU:

looks good, i'd work on your composition.. rule of thirds and whatnot.. otherwise, they're good quality, good detail, and i think that definitely means you're on your way to becoming a good photographer. :TU:

i took a basic photography class back in high school and we talked about the rule of thirds. basically splitting up your picture into 9 sections with a 3x3 grid. i think part of it is also just finding better locations. sometimes i just center the car because there are too many exterior things all around.
i just hope that with the more pictures i take and the more experience i get i can learn to become a better photographer. :D

yep, it's split up in a 3x3 grid, with your focal point being at any intersection of said grid.. also, avoid any extraneous visual input that leads the eye away from your subject.. (parking lot lines, above, the one picture with the crack going straight across..) keep your backgrounds simple, you don't want it more interesting than your subject, (picture of the tach, with 8 cars in the background).. if you can't change your background, see if you can get your subject in focus, and the rest out of focus, so it's blurred.. depending on the camera, this might not work (need either a macro setting, or a SLR-like setup)..
but yeah, like i said, you have tons of good intuition in your photos.. the first picture is pretty much perfect. you have a line leading to your subject, the crack draws your eye in.. and your focal point is the car, which kind of falls on the upper left intersection. take more pics, and you'll definitely get tons better..
what camera are you using, btw?
i did try using my macro setting on the tach picture, but maybe i could have gotten closer? idk.
i'm using a FujiFilm FinePix A205 2.0MP camera my parents bought me about 3 years ago. i have played with the manual settings a little bit, but i'm always scared that i'll mess with them too much and make my pictures turn out crappy, lol.

buy a bigger memory whatever for it, take more pictures. ;-) i have a 1 gig SD card that i use.. plus another 256mb, just in case.. granted, i've got a 5.1MP camera, but still, you get the idea. mess with the settings, take multiple shots of the same thing, different settings.. learn how to maximize your camera's potential!
god, i sound like one of my old photo teachers...

LOL!
the card i've got now is about 64 MB. that was huge 4 years ago when the camera came with a 16MB card, lol. it also seems like my camera eats up batteries like crazy, but its just something to deal with i guess. i usually bring extras with me. rechargeables are nice, but it sucks waiting around for em.
hopefully with this summer approaching fast i can get some more opportunities for taking pics.
thanks for all of your help man. :TU: :japanflag:

the thing that would help the most is a better cam... thats my situation right now.. i managed to learn some macro shots but still not to DIGIH. level.. his homie Rodrez is good too... main thing is taking shots that please you something that someone might not pay attention to you got to showcase that...

its not all in the camera though. there was a thread on HT dedicated to shots taken with 2.0 MP or less cameras and some of them were amazing. the biggest things are just the composition, the background, and the settings you come up with for the shot. the more you learn and the more you know the better ability you have with the camera is kinda the way i see it.
no doubt a better camera would help, but i want to get to where i am completely maxxing out my current camera before i make the trek to find a new model. ;)
