i love auto-x pictures. and i have to say you're probably the only car i've ever seen with those MOMO wheels, which is a cool thing. keep this thing updated with pics when you decide to throw the snail on there. :D
Looks nice and clean so far.
You're gonna have to let me know how those ksports ride/handle.
And about your avatar, for some reason I imagine that that pic is you and not some character, but I would keep it.

well guys, remember back when i was talking about picking up a black ej2 for a grand and he ended up selling it to his bro? well, i was talking with the guy and found out his brother is getting a new car so he's getting rid of the coupe...and i can still pick it up for a grand!:D
so the red coupe might be getting sold. it's a lot cleaner, but with the money i'd make off of it, i can get the black coupe taken care of and looking good in no time...maybe a little boost action too:rockon:
i'll find out monday if it's yay or nay because they still might trade it in.
SOHCej1
04-02-2006, 02:38 PM
damn! this ended up on the 4th page:cry:
not much has changed. i finally got my rear sway on, es front endlinks and bushings...that's about it. i autox'd a few sundays ago and did pretty well. my best time was a 62.4 and all the vettes/evos/wrxs etc. were running 55's. i don't have any pics though, my camera died before i could race (they split it up into 3 heats now and i didn't get to race 3rd heat) i do have video however, but i still haven't figured out how to get it on my computer.
i also picked up a new coupe! not the black dx, but a black ex:rockon:
it's a 94 with 150k, black, auto unfortunately. it needs a hood and a fender, but other than that it's really nice. i got it for 900! they thought it was broke, it just needed coolant (i thought it was the fitv acting up, but when i drove home it was overheating. it took a whole gallon of coolant and when i started it up, the idle smoothed out and it ran like a champ!) i'll get some pics up of it soon:TU:

very nice so far. keep it clean! good job
congrats on picking up the second coupe. sounds like you'll have a nice extra car when you find those few body parts. definitely need to get some pics of the coupes together. :TU:
SOHCej1
04-29-2006, 01:58 PM
well, nothings really changed. i decided to wash/wax her though.
and here's the black coupe i picked up. the hood is gone because it was ****ed up to begin with, and i had to cut it off so i could work on it (the latch froze and i couldn't get it to unlatch) not bad for 850. i only have about a grand in it right now, and i'll put another 100 or so in the hood, and i'll just spray the hood/roof with sealer primer.
SOHCej1
04-29-2006, 02:12 PM
oh yeah, i need your guys opinions too.
my buddy is selling a complete...and i mean complete ls dropout. mounts, harness, linkage, etc. everything. it also has a lightweight flywheel, act clutch, crower cams/springs, skunk2 intake mani, 64mm tb and arp head studs. it supposedly is pretty quick and he wants 1500 for everything. (i might be able to work him down a few bucks). this would leave plenty of room for improvement, good torque for autox, it'd be reliable, and i'd keep my a/c.
i also found a very clean, very healthy z6 dropout for 550. add on another grand to 1500 for a nice turbo kit, and i should be able to put anywhere from 180-200 at the wheels. i'd always run the risk of blowing it up, power wouldn't really be usable for autox (i'm not worried about straight line anymore) and i'd most likely end up ditching my a/c.
what would you guys do?
Honestly Man I love my B18b1 and now that the car is in the back of the house with no Insurance and no Plates I run around in Chrissy's Ej1 with a D16z6 with just a AEM CAI and I can tell you I miss the torque and power of my B18B1.
I say go for the Ls motor and you will love it!

yeah, i got bored last night and went to town with a bottle of simple green and a tooth brush. then i decided to wax the core support and shock towers. i'm suprised how well they shined up.:D
i think i'm going ls for sure. i've had nothing but problems with my sohc for about the last year. the mystery stutter at low rpm, an overheating problem when everything works, oil consumption like you wouldn't believe, rough idle..also a mystery. i quit damnit!

well, i went out and got some pics today...and then i dropped the camera...and it's broke...:TD:
so instead, i'll just update you on what's changed
...
nothing:ohsnap:
i went to another autox yesterday and placed first in my class though:rockon: this whole time i was in dsp, but i found out i was supposed to be in sts...and my first even in sts ends up with the big W!
http://www.cincyautox.org/solo2006/5-28-06_fin.htm
(it's about 3/4 of the way down - "street touring (tire)"
plans in the next couple of weeks are...
new del sol dual core radiator and i'm going to wire up a slim fan on the front side with a toggle switch. this way i can run just that fan when it's sitting in between runs instead of leaving my battery on and jumping my cooling fan.
i'm also steping up from the 19mm eibach rear sway thats jerry rigged to my lcas, to a beaks kit with an itr 22mm sway. i'll most likely get some omni lcas so i can bolt up the endlinks, or if $$$ is tight, just some teggy lcas.
ksports are coming next!

SOHCej1
06-01-2006, 07:55 PM
the hx wheels have been gone for a while now.
i sold the greddy exhaust and went back to stock...it's weird being able to hear my stereo on the highway:lol:
SOHCej1
09-05-2006, 05:59 PM
well, as some of you know, i ended up getting an 88 toyota supra turbo. i basically gave up on the coupe and put it back to stock to sell it back to my dad...who thankfully never bought it! he just drove it whenever he didn't want to drive his truck and it sat for the most of the time. i rocked the poopra for a few months...got sick of it....and traded for a horizon gray 95 ej2 with a bunch of spare shit.
after looking the ej2 over, i decided to bring the red dragon back instead! that's right! the dragon is getting reborn!
so far, i put the gsr/ebay strut bars back on. del sol seat is back in. the skunk2 shifter was still in, so i put the knob back on too. gauges are back on since the holes were still there and i still had them.
it's stock height w/stock everything except the header...for now.
as for the engine, all i have is a 7.5lb flywheel. i'm rebuilding the z6 tranny and getting another clutch, so that'll all be in soon. i'll probably get another exhaust when i get everything else taken care of.
i've got a set of depo yellow fogs, amber side markers and i picked up a set of cheapy amber corner lamps again. the ej2 came with black circuit8s, but i don't want black wheels again so i traded them for a perfect set of si wheels:rockon: i still have the momos too!
the ej2 also came with a greddy turbo kit...and no it's not going on. i've decided to sell it off and buy a set of ksports and a beaks rear sway kit. rear discs are in the works too. i'm done with trying to be fast, i just want something i can autox, and still drive everyday and not worry about breaking anything. i'll keep you guys updated as i go!

SOHCej1
09-17-2006, 12:45 AM
well, i've been a little lazy. all i've done so far is put the depos in and put on some stanleys instead of the cheapies...
i'm waiting on my buddy to put his omnis on, so i can take is other springs (temporary until i get the ksports)
the si wheels waiting for new rubber...
and the dippin dx. this is what i got from the supra...
it's not too shabby. z6 longblock, i/h/e, short shifter, eibach sportlines, cross drilled/slotted rotors, front strut bar, the momos....temporaily
as for the red one, the block i put in it awhile back is starting to give me shit. the rings are toast and it's smoking pretty bad now. i've decided that since i'm going back to school, i need something reliable. so i'm buying a jdm d15b longblock. it'll be cheaper than rebuilding a z6 and it'll still only have 40k-ish.
so far, i've gathered up...
7.5lb fly wheel
exedy oe clutch
apexi vafc (first one....couldn't beat $60!)
i'm selling the greddy kit and using that $$$ to buy the motor and a beaks rear sway kit. by then, it should be lowered and it'll be enough to get me through winter. i'll try and get the ksports and rear discs over winter too.

SHE HATH LOST OIL PRESSURE CAPTAIN!!!
that mooter didn't last as long as i'd hoped. lost a cylinder on the way home from work and it started smoking a lot more. also noticed my oil pressure is jumpy and it falls down to nothing sometimes.
all this while driving normal:rockon:

here are some REALLY shitty pics from tonight....i know...i need a new camera :(
i figured out that it was on 3 cylinders because of a bad plug wire. it had a bad connection and it felt like it was plugged in, but it wasn't. ganked a wire from my box o' random shit...bada-bing! 4 cylinders again! i don't know what the gig is...but the oil pressure doesn't flutter now either:confused: i guess she got worried that she was gonna get parked for awhile again, so she quit screwing with me and decided to run better.
still smokes like a bitch though. it's open header now and i have to shut it off at lights so i don't die of carbon monoxide poisoning:knockout:

bokay...i have hit another fork in the road....again...(i've been through this like a million times). i'm selling the gray civic...i'm hoping to get like 2300 with the z6 dropout or like 2ish with a dx motor...
i can go 2 directions with ol' red at this point....turbo d, or b16. both of which are easily attainable...considering i'm sitting on a complete greddy kit as we speak...i just need a pump and a tune.
BUT...there is a local guy selling an obd1 b16a dropout....complete with everything minus the axles for 1400.
so here's the kicker....i'm going back to school in january. the responsible thing to do would be sell the gray coupe, the turbo kit and just re-ring the engine i have so it'd be reliable and focus on school. use the $$$ from the coupe/kit to pay some bills, etc. etc.......but that's a whole bunch of nonsense if you ask me!
i figure, either way will be reliable (if i'm smart about it and don't push the limits of the d trying to get as much power as possible). both will allow me to keep a/c, and both will theoretically cost about the same.
so, it all comes down to:
-do i want a turbo d so i can make decent power, save some money...sorta...and make all the "woosh" and "psshhh" noises...
-do i want a b16 so i can keep reliablilty, but leave lots of room for improvement later on down the road
what would you guys do?

this comes at a really bad time anyway because i got fired from nissan yesterday...i still have a "job" working with my uncle, but it's not too reliable and it's only a couple days a week, so i have to watch my spending....especially with christmas 11 days away...

ever since i sold the greddy kit, i've been finding deals like crazy, so another kit is in the works. so far, i have a drag knock off manifold. it's a cast mani with a t3 flange and an external gate flange as well. i also picked up a front mount and a few little odds and ends.
i'll get some pics of everything here soon.

bah..........may there be a moment of silence....
while on my way home from work, i lost a cylinder. i checked and it was getting spark, so i figured it was either a fouled plug or a bad injector. i got home and pulled the plug...it was definetly fouled and had a bunch of bs on it. i put new plugs in it and it still only ran on 3 cylinders. after confirming the injector was still good, i decided to do a compression test. 190 in 1/3/4.......a big goose egg in 2. the needle didn't even flicker.
i pulled the plug back out of the garbage and cleaned all the build up off it and saw that a piece had broken off. i'm assuming she knicked a valve on the way out:cry:
oh well...at least i have a reason to put the new motor in!

dang! been awhile since i've updated....again. well the new motor turned out okay, the trans was the exact opposite. i finally got around to rebuilding another one and slapping it in. i was planning on re-gearing this one with a zc 3rd/4th and a lsd....but this was what i was greeted with when i drained the fluid....
looks REALLY promising huh?
other than that, i haven't really done much. i've just been driving it....work's been kicking my ass lately and i've started hitting the gym a lot more too. i've got a bunch of turbo stuff again, but i'm pondering selling it and getting a swap.
i'm going to indy this weekend for the indy import/truck bash...so i'll have lots of pics when i get back!

SOHCej1
08-21-2007, 05:28 PM
ha...that's nothing! i got bored last night and tore it apart......i'll go ahead and say this one might be a throw away...
when i had it up on the bench, i noticed a few little tips of how bad this sumbitch was gonna be down behind the axle seals.. (pic was taken from the inside after i got it all apart...same on both sides..)
first thing i checked was the internal magnet...looking good!
minus the chunks....still covered in metal goop though
now i wanted to figure out where the chunks came from...pulled the gearset, all was well....then i saw the input shaft bearing. could be missing a few ball bearings....i could be wrong?
now where did all those ball bearings go?? found em! liquified and spread all over the place...
found where the chunks came from too...
with the amount of metal flakes/chunks/shavings/liquid that has been stewing around in there...i'm not even gonna mess with this one. it needs an isb, both diff bearings, a final gear and a lot of cleaning that probably would be a waste of time.

well, i've decided to sell off all my turbo stuff....again. i'm taking this winter to save up for a swap and a cage. i've drooled over road racing for long enough and next year it's gonna happen! i decided to get something along the lines of a b16 or gsr if i'm lucky enough to find a decent deal on one. i want something high reving, and i don't think a turbo d would hold up for a half hour of solid racing.
i have everything for my rear discs right now...i'm just missing that valuable little tid-bit called free time.:TD:

What happened to that trans? did you get a new one in your car?
SOHCej1
09-24-2007, 10:50 PM
input shaft bearing fell apart somehow....ate everything else up. i've got a semi rebuilt z6 trans in it now....rebuilt meaning a new isb and new seals.
here are some new pics of my next experiment. i'm having mixed thoughts about how easy it'll be, but i'm pretty confident.
POW!!!
they came off an 06 honda cbr 1000. 44mm...pretty much came with everything!
how i'm going to have to cut the mani....the # 4 runner will be a pain in the ass because of the coolant tubes that run RIGHT below it. if i cut that without breaking into those tubes, i'll shit my pants.....and post pics holding a sign saying "yes, i shit my pants".
i'll need to extend all four runners....gotta start looking for somebody who can weld aluminum. i'll also need to find a way to re-attach the outter fuel rail mounts once i extend the runners.
if all else fails though, i can at least cut them in half and make some bangin ass goggles out of them!

so what are you running now since u scraped the turbo-d...i dont think i missed it...
SOHCej1
10-24-2007, 08:47 PM
just a non turbo d:lol:. i'm working on a set of itb's at the moment....not so much for power, i just want to try them out.
here are a few updated pics of them...
i have clamps for the couplers...i'm just being lazy and i haven't put them on. i found a better manifold to use that already had straight runners, so that saved me a lot of trouble. all i need now is filters and they're ready to go on.
lastresort576
10-24-2007, 08:52 PM
looks good and much better with the new runners/manifold...now what do you need the vaccum manifold for with this set-up? also what do you have to do to get the throttle cable workin?
SOHCej1
10-24-2007, 09:00 PM
tee all the runners into the mani so i can get vacuum to the brake booster. that way i don't lose my brakes (pressure would build and the pedal would harden up like if the car was off).
the throttle..."wheel" we'll call it, is identical to a d-series throttle "wheel".....that makes me feel like a dumbass....so i don't have to adjust the cable at all. all i need to do is fab a bracket and replace the existing bracket that was for the cbr. it'll be extremly simple and all i'll need is about a 2" long piece of steel with some holes re-drilled.
the only thing i'm somewhat concerned about is tuning. the map won't read the same with the itb's, so i'll have to tune it with an "alpha-n" method. i could try to explain it, but it wouldn't make much sense....all it is really is that the map is scrapped and tuning is based off the tps only.
lastresort576
10-24-2007, 11:00 PM
like when tunin with crome etc. you can turn off the narrow badn o2 sensor...right? but instead of o2 its the map?
SOHCej1
10-25-2007, 12:46 AM
it just scraps the map sensor so it doesn't read anything and you base everything off the tps. since the map sensor reads wrong, it'll screw the fuel all up.

SOHCej1
03-04-2008, 04:40 PM
it's definetly going to be another honda. i was looking into something nice (i30/maxima/e36 bmw), but i figured i'd get bored with it. then i started looking into nicer sedans that i can still have fun with (wrx/audi a4/is300) but those are a bit out of my price range. so i think i'm going to go with either an em1, a 98+ gsr or an ep hatch. i found a black em1 that i can probably scoop for around 4500, but i have to convince the guy to sell it. it needs a clutch and a tune up and he just doesn't want to mess with it....so hopefully i can pull that one off.
and what really sucks....is that it went from the hands of a passionate owner to the hands of a 16 year old doofus that's going to rice it out. but i'm going with the fact that he'll probably wreck it before anything happens.

so how much? and fyi so u dont waste money it already has a front sway bar!
and with the smell take a look for mold. the 93-94 roof seals had issues with leaking. granted i believe there was a recall in 95 for em but idk. the main place that leaks on everyones sol is on the drivers side where the straight line that seperates the 2 windows mets up with the targa/front chasis seal.
one of the first things ull wanna do is clean the seals. u could use rubbing alcohol but itll dry it out a bit more than u want. so some warm soapy water will do the trick...then get some silicon/dielectric/honda grease and watch the seals suck it right up. and keep reaplying till they dont look dry anymore. could take awhile. u might also want to clean the points on the targa where they meet up with the seals.
another this to watch out for on the 93's is that all of the glove boxes break due to the way the hinges are. so if its not already broken make sure u always guide it down and not let it slam.
also the door handles like to crack and break along with the infamous wrinkled door panels.
for many remedies of these situations hit-up www.teamdelsol.com all the info and how-to's are kinda like storaged there. and the sol forum everyone is on is www.solsociety.com

^^i have the broken handles/wrinkled panels right now...i'll definitely look into that! thanks man!
it does smell musty in the trunk, but the cabin just smells like a dirty sob lived in the car....cigarettes/axe body spray mixture..
the seals could use a little attention, mine do leak at the drivers door as well.
mine does not have a sway though....i've already had the wheels off for new brakes and i didn't see it. no biggie though, i found a full gsr front suspesion setup (brakes, knucks, a-arms and sway) for DIRT cheap.
