i'm riding on some jdm SECTION spec RM full coilovers with pillow mounts. spring rates are 12k front, 10k rear. they may be too stiff for some, but i love the ride. handling is 100% better than anything i've used prior to these. the only bad thing is, i recently blew one strut. and they are DISCONTINUED!! so, they are gonna be ditched for some PIC perfomance coilovers, hopefully this year.

my coupe is riding on eibach pro-kit springs with stock shocks. did a nice job lowering the stance, and handling is improved somewhat, but the stock shocks are pretty much killing any improvement i would have gained.

i've been looking at things like Tokico shocks and Espelir springs or Cusco coilovers to replace these...

those look to be of pretty high quality man. this part amazes me the most:

240 hours of salt spray test on steel shock body shows no signs of fading or rust.

WOW!

Eibach prokit, tokico blues.

i'm currently riding on stock shocks with the eibach pro-kit. how do you like the Tokico blues pair with those springs? i need new shocks, but am thinking i would like to go with some adjustable shocks as opposed to the OEM replacement blues.

i had AGX shocks with pro-kit springs on my last car and loved it. the illuminas are a little more pricey than the AGX's, but i'm thinking the adjustable factor would be better than the tokico blues.

what do you think now that you're riding on blues? do you wish you had adjustability of damping?

Tokico Blues are 15% stiffer than stock oem parts but that doesn't really say much since OEM ones are soft!

If you are just looking a "ok" setup I would just recommend tokico blues if you are short on cash. If not, I would highly reccomend the illuminas over the HPs because they offer alot better performance and ride quality over the blues.

that's basically what i'm looking at. if i'm going to upgrade the shocks, i don't just want to put comparable OEM shocks on. i want something that has adjustable damping and will be stiffer.

now its just a toss up between KYB AGX and Tokico Illuminas...

i can vouch for the KYB's, my girl has them on her coupe with skunk2 springs and they're great, ride quality is good and the handling is excellent, the dampers do a good job controlling the contact patch, even over bumps and gaps, since we have really shitty roads here.:TU:

thanks for the review man. i'm thinking i will go with the AGXs when i buy new shocks. had em on my last car and couldn't complain, and now hearing people are still having good experiences with them there's no reason not to buy em, lol.

I'm rockin stock struts with w/ Goldline springs. Ride is great, probably cause
the springs are soft as h*ll.

used to have a set of SARD springs (1.8" drop) with KYB's..didn't like the KYB's too much cuz 1-2 was useless, 3 was ok, 4 was quite a jump.

changed to the H&R coilovers (not the road-race ones) and loved them to death. but the JDM bug got to me and i changed them for Tein HA's.

currently using the Tein HA's (ITR spec and LCA's).
rates are 10/8. adjustability is pretty amazing for every 2 clicks of the knob and the threads are spaced nicely so you don't seize them on the collars.

ride wise, i'm not as impressed as i was with the H&R's...too jarring at times. car skips around at auto-x, but if i soften it, the handling becomes mushy as well.

also don't like the corrosion on the shock body:

i'm running:
Tein HA
Skunk2 upper tower bars
Skunk2 21 mm rear sway
Skunk2 lower tiebar
Skunk2 front camber kit
rear camber kit = shims
front sway = stock Si
