this is my 1998 EJ8. i bought it from a guy who was going to the navy and wanted some quick cash for this civic. I got it for a really great price. this is what the car looked like when i got it a couple of at the end of last year:



i figured i could get rid of the front and rear bumbers and live with the shaved sides and molded buddy club sides (since it cost so much to have them broken off and re-painted :neutral:).

i got an oem bumper 98 front bumper,99-00 oem rear bumper from a friend, mugen lip and type R rear style lip about a month ago, these are the only pics i have right now:

actually, i don't think the original state of the car was that bad. it could have used some wheels and a black front grill, but it actually looked pretty nice IMO, and i usually don't like cars with kits.

looks like you're making good progress with it now though. i'd definitely paint your front lip though if you're keeping the sides that are on there. you've got a good list of plans for the car as well, so keep us updated on your progress. :TU:

I honestly think your doing go to the car the way it was just was horrible it looked so boxy and had no shape to it. I am not feeling the shaved mouldings and the flush sides but it would take too much to change that. Just know if you ever get into an accident the sides will crack on you.

i respect your opinion sir everyone has there own. hahah i got that egg for 500 bucks with a turbocharged ZC motor....i ripped the motor out sold it for 1000 bucks parted out the shell got another 375 and got 50 bucks for the rest at the junk yard!

yeah....i took the hatch out to the local runs one night....ugly little sucker....beat a couple of locals, after i popped the hood and called it a night....it was funny that car was hideous but had a pretty strong motor.... county auctions are the best!

actually yes....i have gotten in random exterior parts.....a Seibon CF hood, i got my GReddy turbo setup w/ Greddy FMI kit (waiting for misc items to come in before i install), Authentic CTR headlights w/JDM citylight kit, a EK9 CTR red front strut tower bar, ctr shift boot and white CTR grill. right now i have been tied up with my job and school so most of this stuff sits in my room and the car sits in my garage,

as soon as i get pics i will post them up.

i have a few from a while back with my friends point and shoot digi cam.

yeah...i still plan on getting a Carbon lip, thats why i painted this one. it gives the car a little less contrast right now....until i get my carbon hood then i will probably get the lip aswell. just testing things out.

just got my CF mugen lip in...hopefully have it on sometime this weekend!
then i will have to see what looks better CF lip or Painted lip.

ok so since you last all last saw the EJ it hasn't had that much,,,,

relocated my cd player and got a single din block-off plate


got a Seibon OEM style CF hood:


and then stumbled upon a CF mugen style lip:


that is a little too much CF...i think im just gonna rock the hood and white lip...

the UPS man stopped by my house and left this....


so i opened it and this was inside...


i want to wrap them with195/50/15 Yoko AVS 100's....gonna do some local shopping for them..if not...Discount tire has them for $320

thats it for now....

gonna get my bumpers/lips resprayed to make them nice and glossy again.

your coupe is sick man! still not a huge fan of the molded sides and shaved moldings, but there's not much you can do about it. its growing on me, lol.

i like the hood on there though. also, with the sides being white, i think the front lip needs to stay white. keep the white one and sell the CF. ;) those buddy clubs will look really slick on there as well.

update:

i decided to wait on the rays lugsnuts...and now am focusing on the motor. I have a turbo kit coming...dont know when(f***ing shady bay area shops). but i think i want to go LS turbo now. or maybe just do a LS-VTEC swap. not sure yet.

oh and the white hood/lip is going back on today... ill get some more photos hopefully tomorrow.

I have to adjust the fitement of the hood a little more and clean it up more. This winter is gonna consist of saving up $$$$ to come out with a bit stronger for next year. :twisted: Minor mods will be made here and there, i'll keep you guys updated.

the coupe is clean, but i liked the lip when it was white, im a fan of color match

the side skirts arent bad if u ask me, it kind of flows with the front and rear lips, now if the sides hung lower than the front and back then it wouldnt look right, but if ua sk me the sides are fine

the car looks REALLY CLEAN

hahaha no it doesnt...but the rain here in the central valley where i live is very dirty and we get a few acid rain showers...dont wanna have to deal with oxidation damage.

the DIY cluster was simple...i just went to the local auto parts store (i.e. kragen,auto zone, advance) bought all of the replacement bulbs to replace those funny blue condom looking ones....bought a RED 99 cent mini sharpie they had in buckets at the register. i got home and colored the new bulbs with the red marker(red lights up amber) popped them into the cluster and there you have it. its like 4-5 bulbs behind the gauges...the top two that are optional...i just left the blue ones in, all they do it light up the clusters face at night.

i opt'd for new bulbs just becuase they were on sale at my local auto parts store. All you have to do is take off those little blue rubber covers on the bulbs, then just go over them with a sharpie.... all together i got all got the bulbs and sharpie mini for 3.56....alot of people have done it...i dunno if it fades...but its so easy to go back and re-color them..

update:

decided to get the car as "simple looking, yet subtle" as possible:

switched out the BRIDES for black DC2 Recaros
OEM hood back on
and now slightly tucking tire front and back
