Aftermarket speakers...

OK, so I've finally decided to put some sort of audio system in my car. I just need to know what size speakers people have used. I've looked online and everything seems to say 6.5" speakers all around but I bought some and they didn't even come close to fitting. Keep in mind I have a DX so they may not be the same as an EJ1.

the plastic speaker bracket has to have the back cut off to fit on usually. ive got 6.5" in the doors and 5x7 in the rear.

Weird. I kinda figured about cutting the back off, I had to do that on my girl's car. My problem is the speakers I had didn't even line up with the holes in the plastic bracket and the basket itself was too big to fit inside the mounting cup. I'll have to just bring the mounting cups with me when buy another set of speakers. I've been against putting a sound system in my car for a long time and I'm starting to think maybe it's just not meant to be, lol.

I know, just something to take my mind off all the morons on the road around me. But being a musician and semi-audiophile it has to sound decent too. Plus anytime I pick up a girl in my car they're like "OMG you don't have a stereo?!"

Ha, Clarion FTW. We've got a clarion head unit in my girl's car with JL Audio amps and speakers and it sounds great, but I'm not trying to drop that kind of coin.

I'll figure it out though, I'm not even 100% sure the speakers I bought were 6.5" anyway, wal-mart no-name FTL. I'll probably just grab the Pioneer speakers I saw. I still need to find another front speaker bracket and the ones for the rear deck. If only I hadn't ripped out all that stuff when I swapped interiors ,lol.

No, it's 6 1/2 in the front and 5 1/4 in the rear actually.

is it? fuck it...cx's dont even have rear speakers, and my coupe was...molested. 6x9's fit loosely...you know how it is when its all loose...

i cut the holes in the rear dx deck to put the 5 1/4"s in in the old coupe. I love my infiniti references... and get an ipod USB deck. you won't regret it. you're a music junkie anyway lionel no? i could not stand driving without some sort of music damnnn.

Well, there were speakers in the rear deck when I got my car but I'm pretty sure I took them out when I swapped interiors. I have an ipod shuffle and the head unit I bought has USB input and an SD memory card slot, so I'm good on that note. And yeah, music is a huge part of my life. I've played guitar and bass guitar since I was 12 and I've been a big drum and bass junkie for the past few years.

i have jl audio and i love them. and i had to use a 1in. plastic spacer, cuz if you don't the magnets on the speaker will keep the window from rolling down all the way.

has anyone heard good things or bad about alpine type-r for my integra i just want some regular speakers for my rears and doors i have a stock head unit still it just works so good dont crack on me its works good ..lol
