ok, misfiring at startup/idle/underload just misfiring in general, cant distinguish which cylinder. its a random misfire, no cel codes. if im driving and attempt to accelerate while its misfiring, basically the entire engine bogs out and cuts out until i let off the throttle.

heres what i have done so far to check it: seafoam clean out ( gas tank, crank case, brake booster). replace spark plugs with new ngk's, replace distributor cap, replace rotor, checked fuel line from filter-rail ( line was from my d15b7 )(does that matter?) i really dont think its the timing, because it is a random misfire. not a constant misfire. im getting new plug wires asap.(ngk's) after that, i dont know what to do

any ideas are welcome, if u can think of anything lemme know. im dying to fix this misfire.

thanks in advance.

ok, heres an update, today was the worst of it, i couldnt even make it home from work, i was luckily close enough to make it to my friends dads shop.

the original wires shipped with the engine are what is on it now. i was gonna replace the plug wires, but one of the extra wires was broken, so i had to toss em. i have a friend that lives near me that is gonna lemme try some plug wires he has. but i gotta pick em up sometime tmrw

i havent touched the timing on it at all. nor have i been able to see if its correct

i took it to a shop and the guy said he reflashed the ecu and set it to 120k miles for the parameters for throwing any engine codes. BUT im wondering if he made the stupid ass mistake of using the civic dx ecu code and not the integra ecu code

ummm... ok what did they do to the ecu?....

he said he reflashed it ( reloaded the ecu coding ) but coded it saying the motor was running at high mileage which means that the engine runs more loosely, and is not as sensitive to throw or detect any engine codes

Um I work for Honda and I was working for them for 2 years before this new dealer I am at and I have never heard of this. Honda's OBD0 OBD1 and Obd2 have no way of knowing how many miles are on the engine. I dont know what this person is tryin to sell you or sold you but there is no way of making the ECU think its older than it is. That makes no sense.

I Know that Honda's are really touchy about any changes to the ignition system make sure you have NGK plugs and that they are properly Gapped, Make sure you have a OEM Dist. Cap and rotor, Make sure you have NGK wires or factory wires. I have seen lots of Honda's have misfire codes due to replacement aftermarket cap, plugs, rotor, and wires. Then I put in OEM Honda cap rotor wires plugs and the car runs fine with no Codes.

I would check all that first before anything else!

about the ecu, he said there were three stages that he can reprogram the ecu to: low mileage under 45k, mid mileage 45k-120k, and high mileage 120k+

ok, i had ngk plugs in there when the engine arrived from hmotors, then i replaced the plugs yesterday with some champion brand of the same part #, im still using the original plug wires that came with the motor, and i replaced the cap, i have a replacement rotor, but the screw to remove it is being stubborn and wont break loose and i dont wanna strip the head. other than that, im not throwing any engine codes...so i have no idea

ok whoever told/sold you that ecu dont know what they are talking about... like edwin said... it doesnt matter how many miles are on the motor... THE ECU DONT GIVE A SHIET!!!!!!!!!....... its like blowing a head gasket.. when you resurface the ecu dont know hey you "milled" it down a bit i gotta run you this way now....... who did they swap and how much was it?.... second of all why the hell would you use CHAMPION plugs on a honda... NGK is the best for a HONDA MOTOR... i've seen plugs be major issues on honda motors... a friend of mine ran them stupid Bosch 3 blah blah plugs and the car ran like shiet i told him to go back to the auto parts store and tell them to shove it.... the guy at the counter told me.."those are the best plugs for all motors..."... i just told him to learn his shiet before selling stuff.... and told him to give us the ngk... the car purred like a kitten..... CHANGE THOSE PLUGS!!!!! and if ya dont mind...let me know who did the swap and what they did and what they charged........ you can pm it to me if ya want... i just want to see what shop/person told you nonsense

ok, i got the car back home, im gonna replace those champions with the original ngk's or get some new ones. a friend is gonna lemme try some plug wires he has, and im gonna try and get that rotor put on so i can narrow it down a little more.

Could this be something as simple as timing? Did you change your water pump and timing belt prior to the swap?

logikalfury

no, never changed timing belt and water pump, used originals

thanks edwin, ill drop ya a msg if i have any questions i cant figure out
