97 ek hatch bad idle

My stepsisters 97 hatch dx has been sitting for about 8 months. I jumped it today and it's all good except the idle is bad...but only in neutral and park. I'm thinking a vacuum leak but I was told it could be timing. I'm leaning towards a vacuum leak. Any input is appreciated.

might be vacum leak (know its misspelled) timing wouldnt just jump while sitting...

im guessing its a vacum leak....just take a look at all the vacum lines on the intake mani and see if anything is loose or has a hole in it or something

another thing you can do is spray water with a squirt bottle on the air hoses and see if they are leaking that way...

my D16Y8 did the same thing. Turned out that it was a faulty Throttle body gasket. The stock one looked like it was made of !?!Cardboard?!?.. dunno But it was sucking air and i replaced it and now it idles at 600RPM all the time.
