Well I've been putting away some funds and planned on buying some springs/struts or even coilovers perhaps. well at first I was set on GCs and Koni yellows. Well I had to spend some of the money I had saved up on bills so if I were doing the GC/Koni combo it would be piece by piece. I'm thinking now that I might just get the Eibach Sport kit with sportline springs and pro-dampers, NOT the one with pro springs. This kit only runs like 450ish with tax and I can pick it up right down the road at tirerack as opposed to waiting for it to ship. This car is a daily driver with real occasional track time...maybe one or two auto x's a year. I figured on the money I saved on the konis and GCs I could buy a rear sway and new bushings and better brakes or stickier tires and all that jazz and probably come out with a more balanced set up in the end for around the same bank. I'm basically looking for opinions on going with the Eibach set up or saving for the Koni/GC.

Car is a 93 EX and is a daily driver in a town with shitty roads.

koni/gc is popular for a reason. I running eibach pro with tokico blues and the the ride sucks bumpy roads. It's dampened just a lil harsh. I too have heard good things about pics.

I'd like PICs but its hard to save up 700-800 bucks when I'm in school and paying for rent. I'm not looking for an amazingly awesome set up just something thats decent. I know you have to pay to play and all that jazz I was just seeing what you guys think. I'm not surprised eibach pros and tokico blues have a crap ride. The blues are an oem replacement shock. I wouldn't put lowering springs on my stock shocks or gr-2s or blues. The pro-dampers however are supposedly engineered in conjunction with the pro springs or sportlines.

I mean the top of my list would be PICs or Konis but while in school and with a daily theyre just not really in the cause right now. Unless everyone on here thinks my set up would be completely horrible and its such a bad idea then I guess I'll try and save. but otherwise any other suggestions?

By now you've probably already made your choice for suspension. I had Eibach Pro-Kit springs w/ my Koni Yellows and it was ok. Switched over to Ground Controls w/ a custom spring rate and I love them for daily and the track. Just went to my first NASA HPDE event and the suspension was amazing.

Eibach springs are a good choice, (it's what ground control uses anyway).

I think your on the right track. I'd recommend researching what spring rates you would want to run, then finding that specific set (easy to do).
The konis are def a good choice, but you are correct in thinking you should go with sway bars and sticky tires first.

In fact, unless your current set up is tired, I'd go with tires, sway bars, than spring/shocks in that order.

I love my PICs, but I'm not gonna say it's the end-all, be-all setup. Find what works for you, it seems like you already have a good idea of what you want so I would say stick with that. A spring and damper setup can sometimes be more livable over rough roads and most street driving, especially if you're using OEM style top hats as opposed to pillow balls.

I had koni yellows on my hatch and i thought they were way to stiff even on the lowest setting. I have the pro kit with stock shocks on my car now and it rides alright considering my shocks have 220,000 miles on them and probably need to be replaced. I plan on using Bilstein next time. One of my friends has a couple Porsche's and he swears by them, and that's what most of the Porsche guys use that he races with.

As Ive said in the past all ground controls are, are spring perches. You can purchase the eibach ERS springs(the ones used with the GC's) on a racing forum used for about $25-50ea. This also allows you to try out different spring rates for a lot less money!

So instead of purchasing the gc's get yourself some ebay sleeve overs throw away the springs, and install the sleeves onto the koni yellows with the ERS springs and you've just saved yourself a lot of money and got an identical set-up as the gc/yellows.

Oh and if you're worried about buying used springs, eibach guarantees their springs for life against sagging, and I believe rust as well.

I've had 3 sets of omni powers and they havent let me down yet. They rode identical to bills PIC's, price was slightly lower...unfortunately omni has stopped producing suspension so they're hard to find.

but yeah...pic. not a fan of the gc/koni setup since the shock body isn't adjustable

i'm glad people started posting on this again. I haven't been to the site in some time because I moved to Indy and transferred schools and all that jazz. So in the past few months what has happened is... I found some Eibach Sportlines on a dx in the junkyard and pulled em off on stock shocks for like $70. I felt it was a little pricey because they had no idea they were anything but stock. NBD. I think the route that I'm going now is to just rock the sportlines with some Koni Yellows for a while mainly because my shocks are toast and this is the most economical solution for my wants/needs. Then I might get GCs later down the road.

I also need to get some new bushings and ball joints. mine are all shot and clunking. So thats whats happening now. THanks for the input everyone.

Unless your set on adjusting ht, I'd strongly recommend a simple spring set up for economic reasons.
Coilovers are def nice, but most people set them to one ride ht and call it good. If you know what spring rates and ht you want, you can go with just that and match them up with good shocks.
