im trying to do an all motor build on a single cam only using oem parts..... so far... dx block, zc pistons, zc crank, z6 head, y8 intake mani,... the question i have is wether or not there is any difference in lobe duration between a y8 cam and a z6 cam?

from what i was told no.... but the Y8 head is going to give you better number... the way the combustion chambers are made are kinda like a nascar race track... Oval not round... making more power... compression goes up and you have to run on premium gas only but who cares.... also usuing a Y8 head gasket also helps... the z6 gasket is a bit thicker....

if indeed they are the same why would a y8 head give me better numbers?...... and i ready got a y8 head gasket ;) ...

there you can see...ok and i just found out the y8 cam has a lil more cam lift.... but here you go some more pix....
the only advantage to the Z6 head is that the Y8 head intake runner divider is curved a lil bit to promote a swirl type motion.... getting better gas milage but robbing some HP in the high end... they only fix is PNP the head and making the divider more centered like the Z6 head....
