Nice clean coupe.

Hahaha I know where you got that "Please use extreme caution this vehicle has low ground clearance" sticker from. I had one on the outside of my windshield and it didn't stick too well. Is your sticker on the inside, and how did you get it to stay?

it is on the inside...and I use water to put it on first then used a credit card to remove the bubbles so it sticks on pretty well.

crazyxzer0
03-20-2006, 10:04 PM
Garrett, I already have Cusco Type OS bar in the front and the King of all strut bars, the NRG rear strut bar. hahahah

Good looking, that's an APEXi World Sport exhaust. It's a GEN 1 version so you can't get this exact one anymore. It's not as quiet as the RSR but it is more like a greddy sp but a notch quieter.

well actually speaking of the personal! guess the purple santa brings me..

2 personal wheels :) I ordered 2 one for a friend and me.

I installed it with the

NRG Slim Hub
NRG Quick Release V2
NRG Lock

the problem with the new quickrelease is that the hex bolts are not standard hex bolts like the momo ones.

on a side note: Personal wheel doesn't come with bolts..I had to go to HomeDepot and grab me a set of 10/32 1/2" hex bolts to work with the NRG quick release. It worked out fine and the bolts only cost me 3 bucks for 6 of them. I need to jump the SRS harness so I can get rid of that f*ing SRS red light on the gauge cluster (and no I am not going to take out the bulb). I also need to wire the horn button in the future. Most likely tomorrow. Cheers, Hopefully I can get some pics up. Bro took some but I havent a chance to get full shots of the interior with the wheel yet.

Nice nike's...

those are my works shoes.

and for that bolt......yes I am missing it. I went to Home Depot to buy them but I overtightend one and when I went to do the horn wire, I stripped one of the bolts so I'm waiting till I have time to go to Home Depot to get another bolt. That's why the personal wheel doesn't have full pics yet.

cruise control is sstill debatable. I might think about it later on..but the SRS light bugs me more right now. i'm trying to figure out how to put a resistor to trick the SRS unit that the airbag is still intact and then reset the SRS light.

i need a review for the personal wheel in a ej1 asap.that is your mission. can you compare sizes and the difference in response =)

crazyxzer0
05-28-2006, 11:06 PM
the girth of the wheel is significantly larger than the ones of the Monte Carlo and Momo Tuner. I prefer it as it makes your palm seem like it is holding the ground more.

One big thumbs down is the horn button does not have two prongs like the momo but instead it has one wire to ground to the side of the hub but since my hub is an NRG one, the hub was painted therefore no ground.

Another con is that there is no supplied bolts but nothing Home Depot can't fix!

Beyond that, I think it is a great wheel and IMO worth the 200shipped I paid for a brand new one. I only had it for a few days and I already remember the good ole days when I had a wheel on my old car.

crazyxzer0
06-04-2006, 04:09 AM
after a week of the personal wheel, i have to say i love the wheel. I ran into problems with the horn today. Something is wrong where the horn somehow grounds itself when I turn. I gotta take it apart tomorrow and see if I can fix it asap.

haha thanks mike. Did you notice the Honda DIN block-off plate. It's an old school one from the 80s so it says HONDA on it instead of just being a few lines. :ohsnap:

do you have to put the lock on it everytime separate? or is it already on it and you just lock it? I like the way it looks

the lock is seperate from the quick release section that is held in place on the hub. The lock is optional to put on when you take off your wheel. I put it on there because anyone with another NRG QR wheel can put it on too so having a lock will slow them down from doing that.

I still have to fix my horn and cruise control. I will try and do that when I get a diagram. and MEL, it might be awhile till that happens again. I only have wednesday and thursdays off now.

Long story short, NtAcivG94 wanted to cancel his order with Phil from Spoolin Performance but the manifold was made already. I ordered my manifold about 4-5 weeks after nate so I was still in line with a wait of 8weeks for the manifold to be made. So Nate wanted to cancel and he was running a similar setup like me so Nate ask phil to turnover the order to me and refund the money to Nate. So in the event of of this happening, I waited 1 month for my manifold instead of 8 weeks. Thanks Nate! I didnt expect my manifold so fast so I didnt order my other parts so soon. The list of parts just piles and piles

I dunno? What is a stock EX radiator? I plan on upgrading sooner or later..

lthl inj
07-23-2006, 02:11 AM
You might want to look into a del sol or em1 dohc radiator. I bet yours may overheat in the summer, because the stock radiator won't be efficient enought to cool because that turbo will get HOT. I've always had problems like that after turbo. I had a stock lx civic radiator and it overheated. My buddies stock ex with Greddy kit overheated with the stock radiator. They're not too expensive and you can get them at a local auto parts store.

Nice setup! i bet that is going to be fun as hell to drive. I agree though, you might want to look into a nice radiator, my stock one has some trouble with my GS-R motor and im sure a turbo will run hotter. My buddy also has a turbo integra with a nice fluidyne radiator. He still has some trouble on really hot days. Good luck with it all!

where do you live? i live in sf where average temp for summer is low 80s...

No the greddy kit isn't water cooled. If thats the average temp, you may be ok but a upgraded radiator would be a good precaution before problems could occur. Alot of the overheating problems is that you motor is not used to the increase of temp in air when just running normal, because alot of that heat is produced in the compressor housing. Your intercooler will help, but combustion temps will still be higher. Therefore over heating occurs. Not to mention temps under the hood are greater because of the turbo, downpipe, exc. I live in IL and during the summer it got hot with the humity. My benson block overheated at some points, and I had a Fluidye radiator along with two fans that I ran constantly. One fan behind the radiator, one behind the intercooler to try to keep from overheating cause the sleeves were so thick. This resulted into never driving the car but at night when it cooled down. I would take the precautionary measures and get a radiator so you won't find yourself stuck on the side of the road waiting for your car to cool. A del sol DOHC radiator will suit you fine and won't hold you back. I believe I got one from a local autozone for under $100. I hope everything goes well for you and your car. Looks like you spent your money on very good quality parts. :TU: to you for doing it right the first time. Spoolin Performance gets my :TU:.

Greddy may have made one that was watercooled. I've installed two of them, and they were both just oil.

You can make the stock hoses fit and just make sure the radiator is for a DOHC model del sol, I'm pretty sure any year. Hope this helps.

Well good news and bad news..

good news..the car starts.

bad newss..

-vacumn is reading 10-12 instead of 17-21
-ticking coming from the valvetrain..(might be from a bad valve adjustment)
-old single core radiator was soft on the ends on the top. (Solves my dual core problem)

So far those are the problems...

So the car starts and idles...no check engine light so far...so I'm just working out the kinks before i get it out of my garage.. :)

Yay!! I'm a bit more motivated now!

Turns out the valve adjustment TWICE was not up to par. My friend and then my uncle did the valve adjustment and no cigar. The 3rd time, I did it today and it worked! no more ticking! :TU:

Next issue to figure out... low vacumn reading..

thats sick derek...glad to hear its runnin good...how r u boosting 8 psi? I thought ur wastegate was set at 10.

a 10 psi spring means there needs to be enough exhaust gas pressure to push the spring to 10psi.. This may work on a larger motor but because we have small motors...it will only push it so much. my map sensor is reading 8psi. I sorta get the logic behind it as the spring requires alot of force to reach 10psi. My roommate has a 11psi spring and he is making around 9-10psi. If i had a boost controller it would be more accurate.

Dyno tuning in th near future.. should be around 150 bucks or so per hour.. hookups ftw.

here is a rolling pull to test out the tune to make sure everything was ok. Sorry there wasnt much of the speedo cause my bro was in the back filming.

nice dude i was just guna ask u to get a vid of it up here!

edit: i thought a wastegate opened when it read enough boost to make it open..which is why u would hook the vacuum line up to it. so when it read 10 pounds of boost going into the engine it would open up?

no 3bar map sensor.. STOCK map sensors can read a good amount of PSI before it needs to be change. I'm only pushing around 8psi so there is no need for a new sensor. I would reccommend it once you go 13+ psi.

UberData is a good program too. All programs are great but remember it is the tuner that makes the program work it's magic. My tuner had crome so I followed him.
