A hope, a dream, a Ractive axle-back and an AEM cai:
Then I met Bill (EJ1Rider) and he steered me in the right direction:
new wheels(think slips and then keep going down) 4/05:
new suspension (Omni Sport coilovers) 7/05:
CF hood and lip 7/05:
11/05 Winter showed up, so the lip came off. In the process of putting on steelies, I snapped a wheel stud. My hatcie sat like this in my dad's dusty garage until Christmas break:
During the downtime, Bill sold his white coupe and gave me all of his spare D-series parts:
Some X-mas '06 goodies:
I got bored one day and dumped the omnis (1/06):
New DNX midpipe, Catco high-flow cat, DX exhaust manifold, OMNI LCA's, Blox Sway Bar (not pictured), and a Beaks gold Tie Bar (not pictured), JDM Trust Strut Bar 2/06:
I'm waiting for the sway-bar end links from a friend and the lack of tie bar is me just being plain lazy.
Here's how she sits as of now:
I'm open to all opinions and keep in my mind I'm only 16.

On a side note, I need to get a subframe kit in order to put on my sway bar. Does anyone have experience with the ASR kit or the Beaks kit? It seems as though the ASR kit doubles as a tie bar, but I just bought a tie bar. I have a Beaks kit, but it's made to fit the ITR sway bar and doesn't work with my blox sway bar. Or does it work and I'm just plain retarded?

i would recommend the ASR brace over the Beaks kit. especially for an ITR sway bar. btw, i'm loving your car.

Thanks:) your coupe always catches my eye...was it your fiance's coupe that got into an accident recently? Sorry to hear that. Does the ASR kit double as a tie bar? It looks like it does and I just bought a tie bar...but I haven't gotten any responses from people that have an ASR kit. And the sway bar I have is a Blox 21mm that's supposed to be a stock Dc2 replacement. I have a beaks kit but the brackets for the blox bar don't match up to the Beaks kit. It's frustrating because i'm broke. On top of that, JHP advertised the Blox kit as complete. However, IT ISN'T. The first line in the dirctions states that is a stock replacement that is not complete and requires stock end links.

I do believe the ASR brace doubles as a tie bar.
I'm going to run the Beaks kit for a little while on my ITR sway, and then I am ditching the Beaks kit and tie bar for the ASR brace myself.
I Googled the Beaks kit a while ago while researching it, and ran across a thread on some website where someone had taken the Beaks kit and ASR kit, and put them through a "stress test" to compare the 2. His test results found that the Beaks kit actually spread pressure across a more wide and even of an area than the ASR brace.
I know there have been a few incidents of subframe tear out even with the Beaks kit that I have seen(or rather read about online), and so far I havent ran across any reports of tear outs with the ASR brace.

Wel then I guess I'm gonna have a Beak's subframe kit and tie bar for sale soon...I'm gonna hold off on the sway bar and save up for the ASR kit. For now I'm gona run the tie bar. On a side note, has anyone seen the new commercials for the GTI? They smasha pImP TiGhTizzle CiViC with a massive wrecking ball and drop a large object on a TrIcKeD oUt Focus. VeeDub y0!:D

I just picked up a rear strut tower bar and a gsr stock rear sway bar. Do you think its safe to use the gsr sway bar with a subframe kit?:TU: or :TD:
how big is the rear sway? i thought the GSR was only like 14 or 15mm. that should be fine. from what i've read you really only need a subframe kit past about 18-20mm.
i've got a stock Si rear sway bar (13mm) on my 97 Civic EX with no problems.
the issues with subframes comes when people are putting on 24-25mm rear sway bars. especially when some of the cars they are being put on came with no rear sway bar at all, lol.
Speedy
03-21-2006, 01:13 PM
Thanks Red, I have a 21mm blox sway too, but I guess I'll stick with the stock gsr sway until i get a decent subframe kit like the ASR.
And JDM Ej1 Coupe, it wouldn't be close to where it is or anywhere as clean w/ out bill's help.

It's in the parking lot outside my dad's office, my exhaust scrapes and shoots sparks daily, and it only rubs during hard cornering. The rims with the little ass tires are actually smaller than steelies w/ tires.

well my screename since fifth grade was zildude182, because I play drums and use Zildjian cymbals, i used to worship blink182 and i thought the word dude was cool    , i switched to the name D15 Eg for a year but no one could recognize that it was me because who the hell knows what D15 Eg is, so I switched to Zil jdm, and well that name is ghey. Ove the summer this kid Hans that had an itr ej8 started calling me Speedy because of my knock off wheels (speedy wheels) even though they aren't speedy wheels, the name stuck and I've been Speedy since then.

WTF it hit the hood?... u got an oem hood?...
Well its a cf hood, but Bill and I compared it to my stock hood and the framework on the bottoms are identical...ANYWAY. I had to raise my car an inch in the front because being that low cause both of my cv joints to break, my exhaust is flat on the bottom, I can't drive on the half the roads localy, and it's just plain impractical. I also just painted my gsr sway bar EBP and collected all the brackets and bolts to put it on, so that will be there by wednesday, and I'll have a Maganaflow oval style muffler too.

Yeah i haven't quite figured that out yet, the motor only revs to 5k due to high mileage and bad timing, but at around 4 grand it gets real throaty and then really ****in loud, like DAMN! loud, its a catco high flow, dnx mid-pipe and a toucan axle back, shittiest combination EVER but it does it job...actually it doesn't fit right AT ALL but whatever, it'll get fixed.

Thanks for the good feedback from everybody, when I had Bill's rims on, I rubbed inside the fender everywhere, that little piece of metal actually tore little streaks of rubber off his tires, but because they are narrower than my ims, i didnt rub them against the fender everywhere like i normaly do with my rims. However, none of this is relevant anymore because i raised my car 1' in the front and 1.5" in the rear. My cat's heat shield is worn away from scraping and my resonator is flat on the bottom and probably has a hole in it, ill take a pic for you all tomorrow. I used to bottom out when bill was following me and sparks would rain on his car. After a month, it was just impractical being slammed.

The convenience of the Mugen style lip is that you don't have to screw down the middle because it rests on the bumper. This allows it flex and not crack as easily.;)

I figured out how this happened:
My stepsister has ghetto friends and apparently she "aggrivated" one them. She drives a '97 vsm hatchback, and they decided to chuck a brick at her car, unfortunately I was at my dad's house that night and she wasn't, so they saw my hatchback and chucked a brick at it. :TD: :TD: :TD: :TD: :TD:

I swear to god the car that was driven to do it sounded exaclty like mine. At one point before this happened, I heard a car go by and I thought my car was being stolen. I ran outside shitting my pants only to see my car sitting there like normal. Later on I heard the same car idling, but I was too out of it to fully realize it. My dad and step mom said they both heard it, but looked outside and there was no movement so they shrugged it off and went back to bed. If there had been broken glass, they would've both been outside. I filed a police report, but there wasn't anything they could do without information.

I do all of my work at my dad's house in wall township, you should look into that. Point is considered a resort town, hence the really high prices for everything. Here's an example. A slice of pizza on the boardwalk is $3.75. Back away from the ocean into the west end of Point and into Bricktownship and pizza is a $1.25.

Tomorrow I am going to swap out the y7 inverted intake manifold for my z6 intake manifold, swap the fuel rails and wire injectors, swap the distributors, alternator, pull the tranny, put on a flywheel, exedy stage 1 clutch, bolt on my si trans and then maybe pull my b8. Tuesday I'm working all day and Wednesday I'm leaving for vacation. I'll be back Sunday, and then the real fun should begin.

So today I pulled my motor and dropped in the y7. The y7 was an auto to manual conversion so I had to wait until my motor was out to finish it up, which is why the swap took so long. In fact, it's not even done yet. Anyway, I need to give a HUGE thanks to Ej6 Mikey, he was here for 10 hours helping me, big props to him! So here's the run down of my swap:
97 obd2a D16y7
-coverted to manual
-obd1 distributor, injectors, and alternator
-D16z6 intake manifold, throttle body, injectors, fuel rail and exhaust manifold
-exedy stage 1 clutch
-92-95 ex/si trans
I'm excited to actually have a car that can get out of it's own way. HORRAY!!!!

SCORE! After another long long day of gettin every kind of engine liquid that there is, on us, we got it. Not gonna steal speedys thunder and tell everything, but yea, It was a success, car runs for the most part, a few small kinks.

Yes, it's in. I did the swap because I got the motor from my stepsister for cheap, and the the money went towards her 1 1/2 year. The only kink is I need a z6 iac valve because Bill had given me the z6 manifold I'm using a year ago and he threw out the valve on accident. it lopes between 1000 and 2000, but otherwise the motor runs great, no cel's...yet.
EDIT: I need a p06 or a p28 ecu, i have the p05 right now and it's runniong the motor lean and the rev limiter is 5800, please help me!!!

if you run a P28 you are going to throw a CEL. unless you run a Vtec head....or you can run a P75 from a obd1 LS ....

08-29-2006, 01:44 PM
yea, NO CEL's!?, lol we couldnt beleive it actually started when we cranked it, and then to top it off, NO CELS?? lol we good at this stuff.

Dont forget speedy, we gotta thank our good friend Jeff, the original honda kid, lol. Way back when ppl like me and speedy were in grade school, a friend of bills, jeff, had a turbo civic, as ffar as i know, the first of its kind around this area, back in the late 90s. He custom fitted a turbo from an audi, mind you this was before most or even any bolt on civic-turbo kits were manufactured. The kid's a wiz with hondas. Given we did 90% of the work, if it werent for him, we might not have been up and running as fast, so, much kudos to jeff too !
also a shoutout to turbo mike ( ej1 turbo) for sitting doing nothing, while watching us, slurpinng down his wawa soda.

Things Jeff did:
1. noticed mikey left off several hoses and ran a coolant line into the intake manifold
2. fixed my master cylinder
3. hooked up the tranny ground i forgot
4. and the biggest thing, i don't have the right iac, so jeff toyed with the tps for 20 minutes trying to get the idle to lope less, which he did, and now the car is great. he advanced the tps to counter the lack of iac, so the car jumps when i touch the gas, but it runs, and its quick.
actually it kind of feels like its boosted, iot has no bottom end, but once i hit 3 grand the motor pulls hard until 5800 when the p05 redlines. I think it's a freak motor. I actually spun first and half of second today. And mike was on his way to a party and din't want to get dirty, he kind of juststopped by to hang out, not to mention he got there as we were starting it.

So here's the deal, my iac valve is chillin in Bill's silver coupe, which is 1 mile fomr my house. Unfortunately, he's in West Virginia at college. His grandma has the keys, so I have to use my skills with the ladies to get the keys. As for the ecu, it's chillin on the side of Bill's house in "the tent", most things go in "the tent" and don't come out....but it's in there, obd1 p75.

Haha, about the hoses, lol, keep in mind this was the first time either of us have done a swap on our own ( for the 90% of it) , lol, so good thing jeff was there to help us out.
plus i swear all the hoses looked alike anyway, lol, some were cut, so i didnt know which went to where, lol. Kinda just went by instinct, and used both the old, and my own engine ( hood poped open outside the garage) to get an idea of what goes where.

thats the best way to do it.. do the swap on your own and then have someone that is experienced check out your work.... that way you know what you need to remind yourself on.... speedy if going from your old motor to this makes it feel "boosted" then you should jump to a b16 or gsr.. hehehe.. then you'd be..... "its got like a million shot of NOS!"... ehehe JK good luck with the boost project

Well the iac is mia, probably got thrown out or something at Bill's house. But his brother gave me the hookup on this:
And the fogs:
with flash
without
I'll have some pics of the swap tomorrow, it's not the cleanest swap, but Mikey and I did it ourselves, and it was a big first for the both of us. But it runs with no cel's. The iac is mia at Bill's, so if anyone has a z6/p28 iac, HOOK ME UP y0!!! Also, the ls ecu made the idle not lope, but it sat at 3500, not cool. Also, the ls ecu threw a cel, but I didn't check it, I swapped the p05 back in real quick because of the idle. Oh well, stay tuned for more!

Yeah, thr primary runners are small, but the secondaries are bigger than dc sports secondaries.

I had planned on cleaning and wwaxing the bay while the motor was out, but I had to work the next day. Power washing or simple green is next.

Since there's about ten complaints of my car being too noisy in the passed week, I went out and bought a stock muffler. My neighbors and parents are very thankful.:TU:
